This my second time making these pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches.....Yummy! The second time around I added some onion powder and about a tablespoon each of both mesquite and hickory liquid smoke. I also used about 1/4 cup pomegranate red wine vinegar and 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar. Didn't have any molasses so I used brown sugar. Instead of water I used the liquid/broth from the chicken I boiled. I LOVE THIS RECIPE! AWESOME!

Okay....some of these reviews are misleading. I made some minor modifications with really good results.
used 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
    added tabasco sauce
added 2 splashes of worcestershire sauce
added garlic salt and increased the pepper
The key to making this good was to let the sauce simmer for 30 minutes and cook 10 minutes after adding the chicken.
I also used cheddar kaiser rolls.
The whole family loved it =

We really liked this recipe. I served ours on good bakery roll topped with light creamy coleslaw instead of the lettuce leaf. Quick and easy, for a week night meal and plenty for leftovers when serving three people. My husband cannot do spicy so it was perfect as is for him but for my son and I next time I would either put in some diced jalapenos or chipotles. We found it was even better the second time around a few days later the flavor was even better.

This was awesome! I left out the onions for the sake of someone who couldn't have them, and it turned out great. Will definitely make this again. Didn't come off too sweet or too spicy.

This one came out a little bland. Can't book my finger on it, maybe it needed more molasses and no liquid smoke. At any rate this one doesn't make the rotation.

This one just didn't do it for me. Although it was okay, the flavor of the BBQ sauce was somehow off. Not sure if it was the molassess or the liquid smoke but there was just an odd, offputting taste to it. Won't be making it again.

I found the molasses overpowering. I added some brown sugar which made it a bit better.

Love this! Easy, go-to, middle of the week kinda of dinner. I add one or two chipolte chilis adobo sauce to the pan, and it really adds depth and some heat.

I'm not a big fan of "sweet" meat, so I'd half the amount of molasses, and maybe add a few drops of something spicy. That's how I'll make it next time.

I've found a new favorite with this simple and delicious recipe! The sauce is tangy and sweet and I would use it any time I needed a bbq sauce. Instead of the rotisserie chicken, I baked chicken breasts in the oven on 350 for 25 mins. while making the sauce; the timing turned out to be perfect and just as easy in my opinion. I guess I can see how this sauce may not be tasty to some but I've made this twice now and everyone in my house loved it. I would recommend not putting the lettuce on as it gets very wilted and a bit slimy (for lack of a better word, instead get your greens from a side.
