I love this bbq sauce recipe. For one it is not overly sweet like most. It is very tangy which I like. We are so used to everything being so sugary. I dont use wheat buns I use a high fiber white bun, which I feel signifigantly improves this recipe. The wheat buns make this recipe too bitter.

I was trying to get a healthier alternative to a pulled pork sandwich but these were awful! It lacked flavor and there was a definite raw tomatoe flavor. I didn't finish my whole sandwich when I made this and threw the rest away. Don't make this! Unless you like things that are bland and have no flavor, you will be so dissapointed!

This is my first recipe that I've tried from Ellie. Sadly I was disappointed. Except for the liquid smoke I followed the recipe to the letter. It was an ok sauce. Nothing great though. I do agree with others that there was too much tomatoe taste to the sauce. After I let it simmer I tasted it and decieded to try and add some more sweet to it and used honey like some other reviewers suggested. It helped a little. I will not be making this again. Maybe it is my lack of experience of making BBQ sauces or maybe it is just the recipe.

Not very good. I wouldn't make it again. The BBQ sauce was super tomatoey and really didn't taste much like normal BBQ sauce. I would skip this recipe which is unfortunate because I'm a huge fan of Ellies.

well, I know the majority of people seem to have liked this but I thought it was terrible...it smelled bad, it tasted bad...what a waste of time, food and money
I followed the recipe exactly......my son sampled it too and thought it was nasty

Made these sandwiches last week for dinner & they were fabulous!!!! My man really likes bbq pulled pork sandwiches, so I thought I would surprise him with this. Sauce was amazing!!! I opted to use ciabatta bread instead & brushed them with garlic/olive oil and put them in oven to get nice & crispy! Excellent, quick meal for your man!!! Thanks Ellie!

I first read all the reviews and was excited to try this recipe but was so unhappy with the flavor. I'll keep looking though.

Ellie has created another great recipe. What a wonderful flavor and adding a little more sweetness of honey made this a great dish. So quick and easy for a busy family. My family asked for seconds on the BBQ sauce and chicken. I noticed a few people stated the sauce had a too much of a tomato taste. Reduced the tomato paste to 2 tablespoons and add some honey and it should cut that tomato taste out.

Thanks Ellie for a great recipe!

I followed the recipe exactly except I accidentally forgot the tomato paste and it turned out great. The coleslaw recipe complements it nicely too.

The whole family loved this recipe!!! I did add a little maple syrup to even out the flavor but other than that it turned out perfect! Plus I made whole wheat buns to eat with them!
