This is a happy compromise between "really quick" barbecue sauces, and those with a mile-long list of ingredients. The flavors develop nicely as it cooks down, and melds really well with the pre-cooked chicken. For those who found the tomato flavor too strong, I would suggest using half the amount of tomato paste. Of course you could doctor this just about any way you want, as many have suggested. But it's a wonderful and simple recipe that I'm sure I'll be using again.

I never thought I would learn how to make this, but now I can. I find it to be even tastier the next day. Eating it cold is just as good too... great recipe. Thanks...

This sauce has too much of a tomato flavor and not enough liquid smoke and molassess. I will probably make this recipe again because my husband loved it but change it to my liking.

I love this recipe. I actually made it twice this week and the second time was a quadruple recipe for a party. It was a hit and using the rotisserie chicken was a great cost saver because I can buy a cold cooked chicken for 1/3 of the cost of an uncooked chicken. As for the tomato taste and vinegar I didn't think either ingredient was overpowering and I wouldn't mind it with a little more vinegar. But it is great left alone too.

I used regular tomato sauce and aded about 1/2 tsp of salt to get all the flavor I wanted. Definitely make a day ahead of time to let the BBQ flavor develop or it does have more of a flat pastey taste instead of the sweet smokey tang.

I have made this dish twice. The trick is to let the sauce took a little more. Don't rush the sauce. If done right this recipe is fantastic.

I loved this recipe! It was so delicious. The only thing I changed was I did regular tomatoe sauce, not low sodium and I added some hot red pepper flakes and Frank's Hot Sauce... This was out of this world. I am going to eat some more right now and it's even better the next day....

We absolute loved the taste of this dish. We worried that it would'nt taste good but we absolutely loved it. It was wonderful cause it didn't take anytime at all and tasted wonderful. I have made it a second time and it is definitely a recipe we will make often.

At first this just tasted like tomato so I added garlic powder, more liquid smoke and a couple of teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce. After a little doctoring it was good. It is even better the next day as the flavors begin to marry. Loved the whole wheat buns!

Just made this dish last night and have to agree with everyone,..it's very tomato based. If you're looking for the authentic bbq taste, this isn't it. It was easy and fairly quick, (I spent a lot of time shredding the chicken with a fork before realizing I could use my hands. I also added Worcestershire, a little Celery seed, and hot sauce which helped. I may make again and just add less paste and sauce. Overall, just ok.
