Delicious and perfect texture (used my immersion blender. Used up my homemade black beans instead of canned pintos. I doubled the recipe because I was feeding 12 people but DID NOT double the amount of broth thanks to the comments by "raysasaki".

I am picky about how my refried beans are prepared so I was skeptical of this recipe. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how well the flavors complemented each others. After reading other reviews about the overwhelming garlic flavor, I used one clove of garlic which was perfect. Also, I added half the broth initially and then added more to get the right consistency. All in all, a very good recipe.

This recipe was great. It was perfectly paired with Ellie's spinach and mushroom quesadilla. Will definitely be making again.

My family and I LOVED them. So, easy to make, but I have to agree with some of the others. One may want to cut back on the chicken broth or it will make them runny...

The flavor in these beans was excellent - so much better than canned refried beans! There was a lot of liquid, so I let the beans cook longer than indicated to thicken up. I also added maybe a half teaspoon of cumin for additional flavor.

I made this recipe and I thought overall it was a good recipe. I had to double the amount of beans because as I added the broth it seemed to be an overwhelming amount of liquid. I also only used one garlic clove.

I did not care for this recipe at all but appreciate it is a healthier alternative for refried beans. The garlic dominated this when prepared as written (and I usual like garlic, but yuck in this, and as others have mentioned, it could have used an slight kick of heat from jalapenos or cayenne. I just thought the taste of the pinto beans was completely overshadowed by garlic. I used dry beans so I know the flavor of the beans wasn't the problem as I usually love them. Very disappointed in this, will look for another way to season these in a healthy way. I would say maybe scale back the garlic to one clove and add something else to flavor these that compliments the beans with some heat. Consistency of beans was great though, just flavor off for me.

Easy and very good! I tripled the recipe and the beans were very soupy because of the amount of chicken broth. It probably would have cooked off eventually, but I was short on time. I drained some of the juices in a colander and they were good to go!
