Super EASY and DELICIOUS. I've made this recipe several times now and I follow the recipe exact, except I saute fresh jalepanos with the onions for added spice. I also let the beans simmer for about an hour or cook on low in the crock pot like another reader suggested. SO good I triple the recipe so I have left overs. A must try!!

i am not a bean maker so i looked for a recipe and this one sounded promising. after trying it and serving it for dinner i was so embarassed by the taste of them. i wanted to retract everyones plate. i would look for a different recipe if i were you. i dont know how this one even make it on this site.

i rehydrated my beans over a few hours in my crock pot while i slept. the spices and cilantro added to this made it so delicious! i used it in a nacho layer dip for the super bowl party, they would be great in bean burritos. the flavor is supurb.

I hardly ever post comments, but this recipe is well deserving. It's fast and delicious! As previous readers mentioned, I typically do not like refried beans, but I was looking for a healthy side dish. This is perfect. I made zero changes to the recipe and it comes out perfect every time.

I HATE refried beans, mostly because of the "dirty sock" flavor that they seem to have. But these were amazing! The garlic and onion really makes this recipe tasty and this went real well with tacos. I made it with beef broth, I found it gave them a richer flavor. It was a big hit and very easy! I will definitly make this again.

This was delicious and so much better than I expected. It was very easy to make. At first I was a little concerned that there was too much broth, but after I made it, Ellie's note to "add more if needed" made sense. I plan to double the recipe next time so I can have leftovers.

This recipe did not disappoint. Instead of using them as a side dish, I made bean burritos with low fat cheese and it was so tasty and satisfying. I will definitely make these again.
