I did not think that grapefruits and salmon went together well, however I could not have been more incorrect about it. On a hot day it was such a light and delicious meal along with the steamed spinach. Truly a delight to my palate. My only regret is that for my husband who could not eat it because of medication restrictions about grapefruit. I will have it again though and just prepare something else for him. It was simply that easy to prepare and an experience to taste.

I found the grapefruit sauce to be much to sweet and overpowering for the salmon. However, I would make the shallot sauce again using lemon instead of grapefruit. I also kept the leftover sauce and am going to try it as a salad dressing with a cold salmon salad...I have a feeling it will be delicious!

Delicious recipe for sophisticated palates. Made this for a dinner party this evening with rave reviews from all! Must taste and adjust to your personal taste preference. I one and a halved the sauce recipe, added an extra teaspoon honey, cut the basil down by half and substituted a pinch of red pepper flakes as I was out of cayenne. Just make sure the ruby grapefruit is ripe, sweet and juicy and your recipe will come out great!

When I saw this recipe this afternoon I thought it looked great and easy and was really excited about making it. I was looking for a recipe to make salmon and I thought this is the one. Well, I made it for dinner and it was so bitter. I knew grapefuit was bitter but I thought the honey and lemon would help it out a little..but not. I've just finished the meal and still have a bitter taste in my mouth. I don't think I will be cooking my salmon this way again. Thanks anyways.
