MAYBE IT'S ME, BUT THIS WAS THE WORST RECIPE I'VE EVER TRIED OF ELLIE'S. THE CRUST FELL APART AND IT WAS A TOTAL DEBACLE! NEVER AGAIN FOR THIS ONE.

We ate almost all of it for supper! I should have rolled out my dough more, but it still turned out great! The dough was tasty but too thick! I will definately make it again! It was so easy to do!

The tart turned out simply delicious. I never liked the tart Granny Smith apples in pies, so the sweeter apple in this one makes a big difference. The crust was surprisingly good, too. I have made healthy alternatives to traditional crusts before, but this one is the best by far. My husband and the two of my kids (ages 9 and 12 also loved it. They are exposed to healthy subsitutes all the time, but according to them, this tart does not taste "healthy", and they did not miss the regular apple pie crust.
Word of caution: the crust will LOOK really "healthy", not necessarily in a good way for those who do not like to eat a sensible diet ( if you know what I mean. However, the color comes form the whole wheat flour and does not translate into a cardboard taste. It's delicious and has a very pleasant crunch to it too.
Anothother plus: the cornstarch in the apples really does the trick. I have made similar tarts before using recipes form the foodnetwork, but all of them, even though looked pretty coming out of the oven, started leaking the juices the minute the crust was cut. That was not good eats. Ellie's tart stays together.
To wow your guests, arrange the apple slices individually in a circular formation, starting out and moving in toward the cener. It really lookes like a picture off a magazine cover. Enjoy!!!!

Nice pie! Tasted really good, wasn't too sicky sweet :. Very easy to make. I used raisins instead of dried cherries. It turned out really nice and it was gone quickly! Looked fancy
