This dish was delish! I did however make the following substitutions to make it even leaner without sacrificing taste.
I subbed Beef stock with veggie stock and subbed the beef for 93/7 ground turkey. I added 1/2 c of fat free cheese about 10 mins before it was finished baking. I also halved this recipe and it it still served about 4-5.

We have made this recipe many times and the family loves it!! The flavor and texture is wonderful - everything you want in a shepherd's pie, yet also very healthy. And trust me, you don't even know the caulifower is in there at all. The portion size is very generous, plus it's weight watchers friendly. A real winner!

I use ground turkey, cx broth and add celery to the veggies....I usually skip the yukons as well and use instant potatoes just to add consistency to the cauliflower.
If you make this as often as I have you can add a little here and there...Oregano, basil, hot red pepper flakes, GARLIC!!! and of course CHEESE!!
My family loves it and my dogs love it as well, plus I feel great about giving them this table food as it is healthy and MOSTLY VEGGIES!!!
Add fresh rolls or biscuits and you have a family pleaser...pass the hot sauce please =

I love making this but using ground turkey instead.... so good! You seriously don't notice the difference with the cauliflower in the mashed mixture, and it cuts down on the simple carbs! I don't like mushrooms so I omit those.... I add other things like corn or green beans. But yes, Shepard's Pie must have Worcestershire sauce! Remember Always taste as you go!

This is such a good Shepherd's Pie! I LOVE adding the cauliflower to the potato mixture. SO good! I did add some worcestershire to the meat and Parmesan on top of the potatoes.

Delicious! My sister made this for us after I had my daughter and we loved it. I have made it several times since then, and will be making some for our friend who just had a baby. It freezes well and disappears quickly (at least in our household...even my 16 month old daughter loves it.

By far the best Shepard's Pie I have eaten. For the people who reviewed this, sorry it was delicious, as you cook each part you adjust the salt to your liking. Mine came out so flavorful. This will be a staple. Thanks

ok only because it is healthy. Got by with it since my husband had never eaten a traditional shepherd's pie but he said he'd rather have the ingredients on a plate separate. I thought it was bland, even though I added worstershire and spices and salt and pepper. Probably won't make it again, but won't miss since it's not a staple dinner menu for us.

As other reviewers pointed out, this recipe is a little bland, but with all the right elements. Just add some additional galic, salt and Worcestershire sauce and you will be set.
