I have made this a couple of times and I usually serve it over chopped romaine lettuce, sorta like a taco salad. Dh loves it and he is pretty picky and so does dd!

I really liked the addition of the beans... I also used prepared dijon mustard and it is sooo good! An absolute keeper!!

Once again I've found a healthy dish that also tastes great! I used ground turkey instead of ground beef and it still had great taste. Loved the addition of beans, never would have thought to add them to sloppy joe. Followed the recipe and it was not runny at all. Will make again!

Just made this and it was great. Followed the recipe pretty closely, except didn't have molasses (so left it out , used a chipolte pepper in adobe sauce instead of the jalapeno and yellow mustard instead of mustard powder. Didn't have the problem of being too runny because I drained the meat and onions very well. (It really pays to read the comments before starting to cook. Will definitely make this again!

The whole family loved this recipe and it tastes every bit as good as any other sloppy joe I've had and it's better because I know how good it is for us. This will be included in our family favorites for sure.

My mother-in-law has an unbelievably delicious recipe for sloppy joes that she gave to me when I got married and told me it was one of my husband's favorites. Problem is, when I made it, I couldn't believe how many cans of processed meat and such got mixed into it. Ellie's recipe was so refreshing and (don't tell my mother-in-law my husband said it was the best he has had.

I love these sloppy joes. My boyfriend requests them on almost a weekly basis. I have made them with ground beef, ground chicken and even soy crumbles. I never have molasses on hand so I always omit it. To make them a little saltier, I use one can of regular tomato sauce and one can of no salt added and they come out perfect!
