I made this tonight and my hubby and I thought it was just as good as a good thai restaurant, except Ellie's sauce is a lot better! If you don't like too spicy then don't add all the hot chili sauce it calls for. I like spicy and thought it was perfect but if I were to make it for my mom I would have to tone it down a notch. These can be sooo addicting! Thanks Ellie!!

Very good! But much more time consuming than stated. The rice paper, once softened, becomes very sticky and difficult to handle. Otherwise this is delicious and healthy! I omitted the chili sauce.

Taste Great!! I was inviting my friend over the next day just to try this new recipe. Never attempted this type of dish, but it made me feel like a pro! I recommend it!!

Very flavorful and nutritious. I made it last night and I will make it again today! I added 1/2 serrano chili and 1 Tsp of Hoisin Sauce. I like a little spice in my dishes. I highly recommend this easy and yummy appetizer.

Great sauce. Love it HOT!!! This is another of Ellie's great recipes. Easy peasy to make. Makes a terrific appetizer for a prelude to an oriental dinner. This sauce is better than the dipping sauce served at the restaurant. If you're not into too hot, use your judgement and add what you like. You should use fish sauce (found in Asian markets, the taste is really different from soy sauce.

Our local Aja Noodle makes these (Basil rolls, but they are so popular they always run out of them. Tried these and they are absolutely fabulous I do prefer to dip them in Sweet Chili sauce or Wegmans Caribbean sauce though. But I make these all the time now and take them for lunch......thanks Ellie!

I followed the directions for this sauce to the letter (regular basil and soy sauce and it was the worst thing I have ever put in my mouth... The vinegar and sriracha were so overpowering the sauce was completely inedible. The rolls were great on their own but I also made a peanut dipping sauce with thinned out peanut butter, a splash of rice vinegar, and some soy sauce. I would recommend having a plan b sauce in mind the first time you make these because that sauce is definitely an acquired taste.

I'm Vietnamese and this is a classic thing that we eat all the time, the traditional vegetables to have in these are lettuce, cilantro, mint, cucumber, bean sprouts, and sometimes chives or scallions. I always have boiled, sliced pork in them as well. If you don't like the fish sauce dipping sauce that she has, you can make peanut sauce by mixing equal parts chunky peanut butter and hoison sauce and thinning it with hot water, then add siracha sauce to taste. Just some suggestions if you want something more authentic.

Really colorful, interesting and flavorful dish. Easier to roll than I thought. Loved the sauce!

I've never done anything like this before. She made it look so easy ,I thought I'd give it a whirl. The best is that you can improvise. I added asparagus (blanched until just crisp and put in cold water, just because I had it. You can use avacado, too. She taught me something new and I appreciate it so much. The dip was great. I did substitute soy sauce for fish sauce. I impressed my husband and in-laws. Always a plus!
