I was a little apprehensive at first and actually had a back up meal in case it didn't turn out right, but I was mistaken! This brisket came out soooo delicious I didn't think anybody else would have seconds because I thought I was gonna eat it all. I made it with baked red potatoes. It was awesome! I highly recommend it!

I have been making a lot of Ellie recipes lately. This was another winner. I did add a small can of tomato paste I think I may prefer golden raisins to the regular raisins, but other than that I wouldn't change a thing. Also, after reading other reviews I made a larger batch of sauce. However, I think the original amount would have been just right. I will make this again for sure.

I have Ellie's cookbook and LOVE it. I read all of the great reviews for this dish and decided to make it (followed recipe exactly. I thought the sauce smelled and tasted awful. The smell of it cooking in the house was NOT good and it did not taste any better. My husband did not like it either and it is rare when that happens!
I am sorry to write this as her other recipes are GREAT.

My entire family enjoyed this. I had to go to Sam's Club for a big piece of brisket but it was worth it - a good, hearty Sunday meal.

This was wonderful my family loved it. I put it over mashed potatoes and it was fabulous. My only suggestion is to add a little flour at the end to make the gravy a little thicker. Will keep this recipe and use it again and again.
