I tried this recipe because id tried something like it local restaurant. I make this all the time now. it's wonderful ! I did double the pecan topping though and that made it so much better. All in all, though , it's a great recipe

This is for real good. I hate overly sweet- sweet potatoes. These are perfect. I agree it's all in the "whip". I will make again for a special dinner.

This was fantastic. I normally make my SPC with cream & butter, but we were having a little boy with a severe dairy allergy over for Thanksgiving and I needed a dairy-free version. We weren't looking for a low-sugar or healthy version, but I tried this one because of the high ratings. It was delicious, creamy, a holiday treat that everyone loved. I'm making it again for christmas, and not a dairy allergy in sight. I've tried it w/ maple syrup instead of honey and mini marshmallows on top for the kids instead of pecans; and I've also tried a splash of coconut milk, but it's not necessary. I think the whipping must be the key. Thank you, Ellie.
Oh -- ignore the recent post about yams versus sweet potatoes. This recipe calls for sweet potatoes and that is what you will find in the store. Yams are dry tubers, difficult to find, and only in international markets. All the stuff in the can, produce aisles, etc. are sweet potatoes, many varieties of them, even when they're called "yams."

Good; I'd say great if you're looking for a light dish to add to the menu. However, I prefer the richer "Henderson Family" recipe also listed on the site for holidays. This would be a good everyday dish, though.

i've never made sweet potato casserole before, and this one was really good. apparently, i used large sweet potatoes b/c i ended up having to use a bigger pan. recipe still came out great though. i actually put marshmallows on half and the pecan mixture on the other half. i also added a bit more brown suger b/c i knew we would want it that way. came out awesome. will def be making this again.

    My boyfriend actually bought
SWEET POTATOES because he said that was
what the recipe calls for !!! UGH! He said that what she should
have stated was yams, if that is really what is to be used. We're still
at the prepping part, so I have no idea how this will
turn out . I would have bought yams, since that is what I know
to be "sweet potatoes". Oh well.

This is an excellent side dish, especially for the holidays. People who say they do not like sweet potatoes or yams may change their minds after tasting this. I followed the recipe but added a tablespoon of butter to the sweet potatoes as they were being mashed and bit more chopped pecans for the top. Also, I used a flatter dish that was round, and the top was almost completely covered with the sugar and pecan mixture. I liked this recipe because it is not overly sweet. The honey is a nice touch that you can really taste. I will definitely make this again.

This was the first year since I was a kid that I actually ate sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving Dinner. My mother would always open a can a processed yam chunks plop them into a dish add butter, brown sugar and top with marshmallows and all them "candied yams". My daughter made this dish this year and I went back for 3rds because it was ssssoooooo good. Since several of our family are allergic to the nuts, she did not put nuts on top, instead she put mini marshmallows. It was possibly the best sweet potatoe dish I have ever eaten.
