I never had tabbouleh before but my husband convinced me to try this recipe since it is one of his favorite dishes. I was floored at the fresh clean flavors. I kept stealing bites from him.

This was a good, easy to make healthy recipe. Tabbouleh is originally a Lebanese dish (not Turkish, as a previous reviewer stated, which uses more parsley than bulgur, onion, and tends to be heavier on lemon. This dish was fine, but it was far from authentic. I didn't like the mint, but that's just a matter of taste.

I made this for a friend and we both loved it! Super healthy, but doesn't taste like "health-food." Smells great too with the fresh herbs.

My husband and I are crazy about herbs and seasoning and this dish had so much punch! We served with toasted pita bread and it was an excellent light lunch for us both. Highly recommended!!

I didn't know when I made this that you don't eat it by itself. It has a bit too much parsley for that. From what I've been reading, serving it in warm pita bread with hummus is standard. I'm looking forward to making it again and serving it like that.

Even though you can find tabbouleh (we call it kIsIr in my native language Turkish in a lot of places in Turkey but it is a dish that comes from the southern Turkey. One of the most important differences we have is less use of parsley as compared to the middle eastern restaurants in the US. We also don't add mint but I thought it was a nice idea.
Here are a few different twists we have;
*scallions and grated onions,
*tomato paste and a bit of pepper paste,
*instead of lemon juice, or in addition to it, pomegrante syrup (it is sweet and sour -you can find this at middle eastern grocery stores
*a friend of mine adds a bit of cooked red lentils
And if you think the taste is bland, well, unfortunately you need to add more oil

I like Tabbouleh in general, and this is a good recipe. My partner didn't like it, but then again he doesn't like parsley, so...there you go.
