    I really wanted to like this recipe. I loved the simplicity of it, but it really didn't have a lot of flavor. I added garlic, didn't use water but used beef broth and decreased that by half, used fire roasted tomatoes instead of crushed, an extra bell pepper that was orange, added a bit more cumin and I didn't have anything but black beans, so I went with those. Even with the chipotle and adobo sauce, it just tastes bland. I love that it's healthy and the carrots in it is a really good idea. In fact, I've begun to add those to just about anything that has a sauce like marinara, etc. Maybe the missing flavor was the chili powder. In any case, the one thing I do not recommend, is putting potatoes in chili. I grew up in Texas and potatoes in chili is pure blasphemy. lol! ;

    Not bad, I've had better. I like how chunky and full of vegetables it is. Needs more taste though. Good for when you don't have a lot of money, we had everything I our kitchen all ready to go

    It would have been amazing with some potatoes in it!

    I have been using this recipe for awhile now and I get so many compliments! The only change I made was I added a chopped jalepeno along with the red pepper for alittle extra kick!

    Delicious, easy to make, healthy, and cheap. Love it. I make it when I don't want to go shoping and am low on food. Most the ingredients are canned, so easy to throw together. Highly recommend it.

    very good, I didn't add the jalpenio in adobo. I just added a couple pinches of dried alternative and added 2 tsp chili powder and garlic too. The bean combo is good, tastes great!

    Awesome Chili! So easy to make, inexpensive, and healthy. All of my kids liked it. I make it for parties, too. If your family isn't use to hot n spicy, you could use 1/2 of the recommended adobo sauce and still have enough heat and flavor.

    Loved it and so did my family. The only thing I changed was I added a can of tomato paste.

    I even used it at a chili cook-off and took second place out of 12 contestants

    Very Good.

    I did read through reviews and made some substitutions:

    - added a generous rounded teaspoon of chili powder [would do this again];

    - used 80/20 ground beef [would do this again], I think it made the chili a little more savory;

    - cut the water by 1 cup [probably would not cut the water again]. I do not care for soupy chili, so, while cooking this dish it looked like the 80/20 beef made up for the liquid I cut and I was comfortable with the consistency. However, cooking leftovers the subsequent days illustrated that there wasn't really enough liquid;

    - used black beans, chili beans and pinto beans;

    - not big tomato fans here, so I used one can of 14 ounce tomatoes and one 10 ounce can of tomatoes w/ green chilis, hence, shy of the 28 ounce can in the recipe; i.e., I may use my substitution again but realize that it contributed to the reduced liquidity;

    - topped the finished product with a generous dollop of sour cream and fresh cilantro.

    The recipe was incredibly simple and so delicious.. All I added was some corn.. really flavorful and easy chili! Not to mention, this recipe feed a lot of people. I made it for the superbowl - my husband and his friends gobbled it up. I garnished it with some shredded cheddar cheese..

    Try it if you haven't already!!
