This recipe is very good; however, if the measurements are correct and the portion sizes are correct (this makes 8 servings then each serving is around 768 calories... Not 295. Not sure where they got that number from. It's not actually as healthy as they're portraying it. Tastes very good, though... If you don't mind spending two hours in the gym after eating.

Easy and delicious recipe! I followed it exactly but the only thing I changed was I substituted ground turkey for the ground beef to make it a little healthier, and I actually prefer the taste of ground turkey, especially in chili. The adobo pepper and 2 tbsp sauce add just the right amount of kick to the chili, not too much, not too little. I found this recipe because my boyfriend and I are trying to eat healthier, and we both loved this dish. Will def be a new staple in our house!

This chili absolutely delicious! Everyone that has tried it at my house, has absolutely loved it. Recently I have become vegetarian, so I adjusted the reecipie slightly: I ommited the meat (obviously! and I added a lot more veggies in place of it. I added 3 stalks of celery, 1 can of corn, 1 zucchini (added this in with the beans because they cook so fast 1 yellow bell pepper, and 1 can of diced tomatoes w/ their juice. I used to 2 chipotle peppers and 2 teaspoons of adobo sauce and it wasn't too hot, I think because I added the extra tomoatoes. It was fantastic! My carnivorous boyfriend even loved it. I always make cornbread muffins to go along with this and then add whatever I have on hand as toppings, like tortilla chips, sour cream, cheese, or scallions etc. There are a lot of vegetarian chili recipes that I saw, but this one seems to have the simplest ingredients and I am familiar with it, and I love it. This recipe will continue to be a staple in my kitchen.

This chili was delicious! I added 2T of cocoa power at the end and substituted chicken broth for the water. Yum!

I could not realize carrots in a chili dish, but since I had some chopped from another soup recipe, I tossed them in. They added a little sweetness as I knew they would. However, I also use cocoa powder ( 2 teas. as another viewer had mentioned.
I use cocoa because it adds depth, color and cuts some of the sweetness of the carrots.
Seems to me that everyone tweaked it to their own likings, which is not Ellie's recipe anymore from that point.
However, a good chili base is always helpful. The smokiness of the adobe is always a good choice.

This chili was great, especially on a bed of rice. It was missing something but I couldn't figure out what, maybe a sprinkle of cheese or crushed tortilla chips on top. It was still good and healthy. I made the beans from scratch instead of from a can, makes all the difference.

This recipe was kind of time consuming, but it was well worth it! I used turkey meat instead of beef, and added extra cumin and oregano. In addition to the other ingredients I also used chili powder and cayenne pepper. It was awesome!

I thought it came out fantastic, I added 4 teaspoons of the adobo sauce and red pepper flakes. Also if you had a hot sauce of some sort like Red Rooster Hot sauce or something similar it gives it a great kick.

    Loved it!

This is a great chili recipe. If you like it spicy you may need to go a little heaver with the chipotle chiles. My family loves this recipe and it tastes even better re-heated.
