I did not have the chipotle chile in adobo sauce, but I still went ahead and made the chili for my family and it was very good. Instead, I added some tabasco sauce. I would love to make it again, but I can't seem to find the can of chipotle chile in adobo sauce in the supermarket. What section of the supermarket would I find this ingredient?

I added some more "kick" by making my own seasoning mix, but I like some heat. Even without the extra heat, this chili recipe is awesome! Very filling and good for you, too! My boyfriend has no idea its a "lite" recipe and he raves about this chili!

This is a killer chili recipe. It is so incredibly hearty and satisfying. Watch out, though, on the adobo sauce and chili...it can get pretty spicy quickly! I put a little low fat sour cream in mine and it was awesome. I also added a can of super sweet corn.

I LOVE Chili and this is the best recipe I have ever made. I use way more adobo sauce though because I love the smoky/spicy flavor. It does become very think in the end, so if you don't like super thick chili, I would put extra crushed tomatoes in.

I made this for my parents after a long day of work. It was quick, easy and very tasty. It had a little 'kick' but wasn't *too* spicy. Had plenty left over for lunches for the rest of the week. Great recipe and will definitely make again!

I made this today for a girl's lunch and everyone raved about it and wanted the recipe. I usually make a quick, plain chili but this was worth the little extra work. I also love that it has healthy carrots & red bell pepper (which I diced along with the onion the day before and stored in a plastic container to save time today. I served the Neely's honey cornbread muffins with the chili. Yum!

The final product was very good, but with lots of alterations. I added two cloves of garlic, 2 chipotle peppers, three tsp. adobo sauce, 1 tblsp. chili powder, 16oz. tomato sauce and 1 tsp. oregano. This cooked up quickly after a long workday, and would make again. I only gave it 3 stars because without my additions it was too bland.

I started making this recipe right after it appeared on her show, and it's always delicious. I'm not sure why people say it's too thin...I end up having to add a bit more water to keep it from getting too THICK. I even end up covering the pot completely just to prevent more moisture from getting out. The taste is superb. My family likes more heat than others around the country (we're New Mexicans, so I tend to add about 3-4 chipotle peppers, just enough so that my husband and I enjoy, but my kids can still eat. I'm not a fan of red chile powder, but the smokiness that the chipotle and adobo sauce bring to the chili is wonderful! We tend to top with FF cheddar cheese and FF sour cream.

I swapped out the water for beef stock and added a beer at the point of adding the beans (otherwise it was too thick for me. I also added 3 cloves of chopped garlic at the cumin stage of the recipe. I topped it with cheese, sour cream and crushed up corn chips. It was absolutely awesome!
