These are great cookies to cook with my grandchildren who are 8 and 4. We save what are left after our Sunday evening baking sessions for the kids to take for their snack times at school. Since these are made with less fat and more high fiber I don't feel guilty about giving them as treats. We even call them our "Healthy Cookies"!

My husband & I made these last night & they turned out WONDERFULLY! We altered the recipe by using all white unbleached flour (instead of pastry flour & 1/2 c. semisweet choco chips & 1/2 c. Brach's caramel bits (instead of milk choco & dark choco- will probably add a little more caramel next time. We added the pecans that were optional & they were outstanding! Very similar to a turtle cookie. Will definately make again!

These cookies turned out perfect and they were delicious! The only way i altered the recipe is i subsituted the wheat pastry flour to all white unbleached flour, i also used mini m&ms instead of the dark chocolate. LOVE EM and am making them in my baking xmas gifts. Defenetly try these out they are very simple and look very appitizing.

Tried these out tonight, and love them! After reading some of the reviews, there re some tips to making it well. First, use whole wheat baking flour. If you cannot find it, then get regular whole wheat flour, and TRIPLE SIFT it. This will keep the cookies from having that "whole wheat" toughness. Make sure you don't over mix when you are adding the flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture. That will also help keep them from being tough. Be sure to take them out of the oven after 12 minutes. They won't look done, but as they cool, they will stiffen and they really will be cooked all the way through (even though they look gooey.
I love finding "healthy" recipes, and it's great to find a cookie that's not all "bad"!

I enjoy collecting different cookie recipes. My husband gets a wide variety of change and complains at times. As he wants me to stick to the ol' favorites. But when there's another winner....it's a great treat! My modification was just using 100% all purpose flour and salt. Easy recipe to make. The cookies turned out chewy and had a wonderful flavor. Thank you.... my husband will enjoy aother treat after the yardwork is completed.

I am a high calorie, chocoholic freak. Until recently I would not be caught dead putting whole wheat flower into anything, especially my chocolate cookies. These are some the richest chocolate cookies I have ever had. I used Guirardelli semi sweet chocolate and walnuts instead of pecans. I also used 1 stick of smart balance in place of the 14 cup butter and canola oil. My new favorite cookie...

These cookies are so amazing! They don't have a "healthy" taste at all. Super rich and chocolaty. Love these because they not greasy/too buttery and a couple of cookies really takes care of the sweet tooth. Only substitution I used was semi-sweet chocolate chips in place of the milk chocolate chips, but everything else was the same. Highly recommend this cookie recipe.

The cookies are delicious. I made mine with dark chocolate m&m's and chopped white chocolate. I took them out a little early and the texture is great. No grease on your fingers!

My sister did an awesome job when she baked these cookies!! She stayed true to the recipe but used 82% dark chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate in place of the milk chocolate, and they were perfectly sweet. She also included the pecans. We LOVE whole wheat flour, so for those of you who complained about this addition and refuse to use it again, you are really doing yourselves a disservice. It is very good for you, and one taste is not enough to write it off of the list. As far as I'm concerned, Ellie Krieger is an excellent nutritionist and cook. If you sometimes feel that her recipes are lacking some flavor, you just need to learn how to spice it up to your own liking. Try these!! You won't be dissappointed.
