I can't speak for the sauce because I made Giada's marinara (adding a cup of red wine when the tomatoes are incorporated. I used Ellie's meatball recipe with it and it was so fantastic! I used very lean ground beef instead (93/7, and my boyfriend complained that the meat was too lean to be made into meatballs and would have been better used in a simple meat sauce. I thought they were scrumptious and loved the feeling that comes with a healthy, low-cal, HEARTY and filling meal. The carrots in the meatball make such a huge difference and compliment the carrots in Giada's marinara very well -- fyi: I bought the matchstick carrots because they are much easier to chop without a food processor. I recommend making it just the way I made it, but beware of making it for men who prefer fatty meats.

This tomato sauce is delicious! It is my favorite tomato sauce recipe now. You can add the chipotle pepper to taste. It was delicious and even those who do not like spicy foods loved it! The meatballs are delicious as well but I do not always make it with the meatballs. Sometime I use ground turkey or beef instead. Either way it is delicious! I also do not use fresh herbs everytime and it is still just as wonderful. Summertime is the best when there are fresh garden herbs and carrots! I tend to make a triple batch of this sauce and then freeze a portion. The sauce is delicious as leftovers...even more flavor!

These meatballs were moist and tasty. I will only make these from now on! Ok, so I only used garden ragu instead of making the sauce. Keep the lighter foods coming Ellie!

Excellent! I made the meatballs in regular tomato sauce because I was worried the sauce would be too spicy for my 1 year old and they came out great. I wasn't sure about the carrot, but it really just added moisture and a bit of sweetness. I used 93% lean turkey and it was perfect. Thanks again Ellie!

This is an amazing version of spaghetti & meatballs! My husband NEVER eats pasta, but I actually got him to eat the whole wheat pasta with this. I also used the white meat ground turkey which required a little drizzle of olive oil to help moisten it up. Spice level was perfect! It's a keeper!

We really enjoyed this. We did alter it just slightly in that we busted out the hand held blender and made a smoother, not as chunky sauce. Spicey and yummy... although I may cut back on the spice a little... had some rough heartburn that night. =D

Delicious! Meatballs wonderful--you'd never know they were lower-fat or that the pasta was whole grain. Easy weeknight meal with leftovers for tomorrow's lunch.

The meatballs in this dish were very flavorful and delicious! Love them. The sauce was pretty good but it was a lot spicier than I thought it would be. I liked it but could not give it to my kids, one of which typically likes a little spice. Overall, very good. Just know that it is really spicy!

Love this recipe. It's healthy and big on flavor. I like to make big meatballs so they typically take longer in the oven.
