To whoever wanted more sweetness and didn't find this enough try adding some apple sauce or sliced peaches. So yummy

Delicious!! great way to sweeten oatmeal w/o all the sugar. I followed the recipe and it wasn't bland at all. bland compared to store bought packaged oatmeal maybe but perfectly sweetened w vanilla, raisins and spices. My hunny and I aren't a fan of raisins but we followed the recipe and try were perfect!!!

I tried this recipe today, and both my sister and I enjoyed it. The walnuts were very good after being toasted, and halfway through their toasting I sprinkled some sugar over them. I have to say, it was a little bland. The next time I make it I will probably tweek the ingresiants a bit. Overall, it was a good recipe.

I accidentally bought instant (which is not as healthy, but I had to use it up! I put the raisins in while the water was boiling so that they would have time to soften up.

I love the cold milk blending with the hot oatmeal! It fills me up especially adding blueberries at the end! YUMMY!!!

Love the slight taste of vanilla in the oatmeal. I substituted untoasted pecans for the walnuts and didn't have any raisins. Will definitely be dropping this combo of spices into my oatmeal on a regular basis!

Love the idea of cooking oatmeal in a crockpot, as I am prone to over- or undercooking mine on the stovepot. I haven't tried this recipe yet, but I think I will put a few of my own ideas into it. Maybe it is one I will be able to get my 5 year old to eat without much hassle. I too am concerned about the amount of sugar in packaged oatmeal. Thanks for the suggestions!

i've been looking for a way to eat oatmeal that didn't involve adding copious amounts of brown sugar. i'm so glad i found this recipe! i made 1/2 c. oats with 2/3 c water + 1 T milk (what i usually do and then added the nutmeg, vanilla, walnuts, and brown sugar according to the recipe. i really like chopped apples in mine, so i added those instead of raisins (about a minute before it's done cooking to soften them. yum!

Reading the recipe it sounded perfect. But it was so bland with no flavor that I couldn't get it down my throat. I tried adding more sugar and cinnamon but it still just had no taste. My boyfriend, who tried it as well was disgusted and we wound up throwing the whole thing out
