My wife wanted me to make some chili. Having just noticed this recipe on her food network show, I tried it. I did not want to add the hominy and left out the yogurt . It tasted like a "regular " chili.using turkey shreds and working in a crockpot after braising the main beginning ingredients. You can add more stock or soup and make it as a soup or leave less out and make it as a much heavier soup/stew. It worked well this way for us Enjoy

I usually make this for some type of informal gathering like a football game so that there's something with sustinance offered instead of just chips. Everyone always loves it... even the guys. The lime is a must.

I love a lot of Ellie's recipes, but without the toppings this is quite bland. I even doubled the spices and garlic. I would definitely recommend adding the lime, cilantro and yogurt, and more cayenne if you want to be able to detect it. It is really good with those additions. I always use turkey in my chilis, but have never cooked with hominy, and loved its addition! I followed other reviewers' suggestions and halved the broth - the amount of liquid was just right for chili consistency after simmering 35 minutes, uncovered. Serves 4, if you are larger eaters.

This was very good. I follwed the recipe exactly except for that I didn't use the toppings. It didn't need any! I'm already going to make another batch and it hasn't even been a week since the 1st one. This will be a regular item on our menu during the cold months.

The flavors in this recipe work very well together. I added a bit more cumin, and instead of cayenne, I used dried chipotle pepper flakes and red pepper flakes - added at the same time as the other seasonings. It gave it a nice smokey heat. I ended up adding much more salt that I expected - I think that the beans and hominy soak up a lot of it. I served it with honey cornbread muffins (Recipe from The Neely's on Food Network, too and it was perfect!

This recipe is fabulous. I followed all the steps exactly but I cooked it for an extra hour to cook off the broth and it was perfect with some oyster crackers on top. We didn't have much leftover the next day, so I added another can of chicken broth and a little short grain brown rice and it was even better than the day before!

My little sister made this and dropped it by. I wasn't going to have any, but decided to give it a try. I am impressed. She said she added a little more seasoning than recommended in the recipe. Here I am getting the recipe so I can make it myself.

I made this for my boyfriend it was great, but it is just the two of us and we had a ton left over. For the next night we made a small nacho with it, I took some whole wheat flour to thicken the chili, then put a little bit in some baked tostito scoops, topped that with low moisture motz, and some cilantro it was delicious! The next day for lunch I added it to a turkey dog with a whole grain bread and some cheese on top. There are a lot of differnet things that you can do with this if it is left over and its still healthy and taste great!

I adjusted the recipe to my liking. For ex. I used less onion and more celery and added more beans instead of using hominy. I made homemade tortillas to eat with the chili. Everyone LOVED IT! They wanted more!!! I was so happy to find something healthy for once (that they actually loved for the family. Thank you Ellie : -

My husband and I loved this recipe. I left the beans out and added more hominy and it was wonderful. Fresh taste and light.
