Batter is great, topping is eh. Topping too earthy for my taste. I will use batter recipe and top with fruit but I did not care for nut mixture in this recipe. I do like all of those nuts but when put on my pancakes, it didn't do anything for me. Maybe you have to have a more organic palette to enjoy it.

Best pancakes ever! I made these tonight and they were amazing! So light and fluffy! I used skim milk, egg whites, a cup of skim milk mixed with a tablespoon of lemon juice instead of buttermilk, and Truvia instead of honey. Also instead of the nutty topping and apples I made a strawberry compote. I plan to make these again and again!

I tried this recipe without the nutty topping and boy it was scrumptious!!!! I added a twist to this mix and added 1/2 cup of blueberries pureed in a little skim milk that was set aside. I will be making this from now on and will be trying different fruits(strawberries, pineapple, etc.!!! Thanks Ellie!

Made these tonigh as part of "breakfast for dinner" dinner. I used the pancake recipe, but did not have the ingredients for the toppings, so I substituted wild blueberries and some lemon zest. I have never made pancakes from scratch and was interested in making a whole wheat pancake. Just as easy as a box, and obviously more healthy, way fluffier and tender. Most importantly, my kids enjoyed them. So, thanks, Elie.

oh my goodness they are so.... good!!!! so fluffy i was sampling one while cooking them and could not wait to finish. first time trying the recipe. i omitted the topping and apples. did not have any milk so i used evaporated milk using 1 cup with 2 tbsp of vinegar to make buttermilk and 1/2 cup of evaporated milk mix with 1/2 cup of water to make the 3/4 c milk. and i used 100% whole grain whole wheat flour by hodgson mill. i admit i goofed a little . now i see why you should reserve 1/4 cup of milk adding too much can make the batter too thin, but i save the day by adding approx 1/3 c of each (whole grain/all purpose flour and 2 extra tsp. of honey. recipe did not call for it but i substituted egg whites and i sifted the dry ingredients and another trick is not to whisk too long could result in tough pancakes. i made extra pancakes to freeze. thanks for this recipe look forward to making more.

I've been looking for a recipie for wheat pancakes that makes them fluffy AND moist to no avail... These are absolutely perfect. I didn't make the topping as I'm serving these to my 3 boys (all under 5 btw and they loved them. I added a 6 ounce jar of sweet potato baby food for the second batch just to get a little more vitamin A and they still came out fluffy and light! Thanks Ellie!!!

Excellent recipe. The first time I made it exactly as the recipe called for, but the next few times I added more salt and changed the fruit. It's that time of year after all! My husband's favorite alternates between blueberries or raspberries. My favorite is banana. Try it.
