I make this not only on St Patricks day, but I make it alot for my guest. I substitue Irish Mist for the whiskey and add about a cup of the Sunsweet Antioxidant blend of dried Blueberries, Cherries, Cranberries & Plumbs while cooking the apples. (you can buy a large bag of these at Costco they soften up real nice and the presentation is great with the mixture of color blending with the apples. I get rave reviews from everyone!!! Thank you for sharing this ~ I will always have it in one of my favorites.

I made this for a St. Patrick's day dinner and everyone loved it! I didn't have Irish whiskey, so after sauteeing the apples and letting it cool a bit I added three tablespoons of Bailey's Irish Cream. It was delicious. I used regular oats, which worked fine, and since I didn't know what Bailey's would do in whipped cream I just served it with vanilla ice cream. One for the recipe file!

too much flour. not the best "crisp topping"
needed more whiskey, couldn't taste it in the filling.
didn't like the the steel-cut texture in topping.
It was tasty but not exceptional.

Easy to prepare and delicious to eat. Does not require that many ingredients either.

When I first looked at the recipe for dish I thought that it looked kind of difficult. I didn't really have everything in order but I just started to cooked it. I was surprised at how well it turned out. It looked perfect and my friends loved it.

I made this last night for a St. Patrick's Day party -- guests raved about the apple crisp but could barely swallow the whiskey whipped cream. It was incredibly potent -- people were getting buzzed off the topping! Some advice: Don't substitute Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey for Irish Whiskey. :

I made it two days ago to preview for a St.Patrick's Day dinner we are hosting at our home. At the time, I didn't have the Irish Oatmeal. I used old fashioned oats, and it was delish. My supermarket ordered McCann's oatmeal. I will follow the directions exactly for the dinner, but I already know it will be a hit.

Really delicious, the topping is so good and the whipped cream to die for. I got rid of my old apple crisp recipe and now always make this one!

I served it at a St. Patrick's Day party and everyone enjoyed it. I recommend using a mandoline for slicing the apples.
