The reviewer who wrote about the 8 minutes per side + 2 minutes per side on broil is exactly right. That timing made them perfect. This is an excellent appetizer that would be a huge hit at a party. They look like a caterer made them, yet only took 5 minutes to assemble.

mmmmm...so good!! And I absolutely agree - search out the Medjool dates, they make a huge difference in both taste & texture!!! Make extras (like a double batch..., so when you eat a few before the party, your plate won't end up short.

My friends and I loved the marriage of flavors in this appetizer. Sweet and salty and smokey. Don't arrive to the party late, or you won't get any. I had to make a double recipe

Very nice recipe, takes some work but not hard. Found nice-sized Medjool dates at Trader Joes along with the almonds and their thick-cut, Applewood bacon. Once dates were pitted, not hard to stuff with almonds/cream cheese and wrap em up. Only tricky parts was slicing the cream cheese and I did a combo bake/broil session. 7 minutes a side of baking to render fat and then a couple of minutes a side to crisp up the bacon. Give or take.
But yeah, warm, rich and delicious treat, most people let out a little moan when they bit into these bad-boys...

Absolutely delicious! I can't believe I waited to try this recipe! I did cook the bacon for 8 minutes on the first side and 7 on the second and was cooked through for me.

Fantastic! Made for Christmas Eve buffet for the family and they all loved them. Word of warning: DOUBLE the recipe, you'll not regret it!

These are unbelievable. However there is one problem. After you serve this dish, you'll be asked to make it by everyone who tastes it. I've now taken to copying the recepie, and leaving it on the table next to the dish!!!!

I love bacon wrapped dates. Had them at Barcelona Tapas in Puerto Vallarta and at Emeril's in Orlando. Both were great but Emeril's were the best. A rich over the top appetizer. I have made them myself and medjools are the only date I would use. Cheaper dates are tough and taste cheap.

One of my all-time favorites! I have never had a problem finding medjool dates in the bulk section of any grocery store -- and usually you can find them pre-pitted (though pitting dates is super easy. I usually leave them in a little longer than 10 minutes because I like the bacon to crisp up a little bit more, but you definitely want to make sure they have time to cool before diving in as the middle is incredibly hot when they first come out. Still, waiting is not always that easy since these little guys are so yummy!

These are SO yummy and so easy to make! I left out the almonds -- I didn't want to have to explain to my guests that I didn't forget to pit the dates -- and they were incredible. Everyone loved them, even people who don't like dates. One guest estimated that he ate a dozen of them. One friend suggested trying them with maple bacon, and I think that would be an incredible flavor combo!
The only drawbacks are that Medjool dates are hard to find, and they were $7.99 a pound at Harris Teeter! I spent about $11 on 36 dates for a doubled recipe, but it was worth it. I will definitely make these again and again!
