The family loves this pasta dish, it's become a common weekday meal. I added sliced onions and minced garlic for added flavor, it worked well.

This was a nice change. The Mornay Sauce was phenomenal! I made it with pecorino romano, which I think gave it more depth. To the italian sausage, I also added a red bell pepper, 1/2 of a yellow onion, and some fresh garlic. It was easy to make and even easier to eat. I will be adding this to the rotation for sure! (I baked it uncovered for 12 mins on 350.

This was like mac and cheese with sausage in it and we LOVED it! I didn't put the nutmeg in and broiled it for a few minutes until it browned on top. Great dish!

I made this w/o the fennel & it was still incredible. Didn't feel like anything was missing. I even froze it & reheated it 3 months later & it was still great. Definately a keeper.

What a delicious recipe! Publix was out of fennel - thank goodness I had read john.mccabe_116.. review - I used suggestions from there, added 1 red pepper and used spicy sausage. Took note of another review & cooked sausage completely before starting the rest of the recipe - and I had so much it ended up in a 3 qt dish - not 2. Also took john.mccabe_116.. note of oven time/temp & worked out perfectly. Enjoyed it & will definitely cook it again.

This is absolutely scrumptious! I made it with red bell pepper also because my grocery store did not have fennel that day. It is just delicious on a cold winter day! An ultimate comfort food and something unique! I use Mornay on a lot of different things--it is a wonderful sauce to have in your recipe box!

Real comfort food and easy to make. I made it exactly the way the recipe reads the first time I made it. It was perfect, except we found it a little dry, especially when we heated up the leftovers. I made it again last night and used a little less sausage and only 3/4 pound of ziti. I used all the mornay sauce and it was wonderful. There are only two of us so it worked out just fine. Enough left over for dinner tonight. Yummmmm.

Great recipe!! I used celery since I'm not a huge fennel fan. I also used margarine and skim milk to help with the health vantage point. Next time I will make double sauce because I thought it was a bit dry. More sauce mixture would make it a bit creamier.
