I thought it was extremely delicious....I couldn't stop returning for more...I didn't even have time to see whether it set or not. I didn't even add the chocolate nor the caramel, which I'm sure would make it even more perfect. I do believe it was firm enough, though. I tried Emeril's banana jazz pie too, and it's just as addictive. Emeril's vanilla ice cream is a staple for me, and the fried peach pies were extremely delicious.
I´ve been to both of his restaurants (NOLA and Orlando but I'm too busy eating the tasty meal that I never have much room for dessert, so I´m glad I can at least try a similar version this way.

I've attempted this recipe twice with pathetic results. The custard did not thicken and ruined the pie.

Well I just finished making the custard and it's way too liquid like! I had it on the stove and it started to separate so I did what some reviews said about taking it off the heat and beating it with a mixer and to be patient! OMG i was beating the darn thing for 30 minutes! That's crazy!!! Unless the custard thickens up in the fridge, we'll see. Ill post more once its complete. But so far Im nervous for my banana pie!! LOL to be continued...

I was in the mood to bake this weekend, and decided to try something I've never done before - a banana cream pie. This pie is truly decadent. Very sweet, incredibly rich and delicious. The only change I would make (as others have mentioned would be to double the amount of crust. The custard, bananas, and whipped cream are all so sweet that the slightly salty and crunchy crust is a great counterpoint to the filling, but I could use even more to balance it out. Overall it was fun to make and I'm impressed with the flavors.

i have had the actual version of this dessert at Emeril's restaurant in Orlando, and I have to say that I was skeptical when I saw the recipe. It just seemed too simple! (I opted not to make my own chocolate and caramel sauce. It's just plan custard and banana slices? Too good to me true.
This recipe has knocked my socks off. The custard is perfectly sweet, and using a vanilla bean just takes it to the next level. the layer of bananas makes each slice beautiful. Definitely a repeat!

I made this for our Fire Dept Board meeting and the guys loved. They were still talking about it hours later. I had no issues with making the custard.

This was the first time I made this dish and so I though for sure I'd mess it up some way. I went step by step..except or the graham crust. On his Emeril show he showed that he uses a banana in the crust to keep it together. I wasn't going to do this but it seemed it needed that or more butter. Once I put the pie together and set overnight. The next day I went to make the whip cream, carmel and chocolate sauce but my husband had already eated 2 pc of the pie for breakfast. He said no reason to waste all the other ingredient when it was over the top terrific without them. So next time I will hide it from him so I can finish it with all the toppings.
