I am a widower. Made this for friends. More demanded. Not too difficult - especially here in Texas where you can find Dulce de Leche icecream to melt and use in place of the caramel sauce. "Holy Smoke DELICIOUS!" Modified it with strawberries (and strawberry liquer. Sweeted the berries w/sugar prior to using in recipe.

This bread pudding requires a lot of love (time, but executing every step is worth every second. The bread pudding was amazing. Even though it is was for just me and my fiancé, I don't think we will have any leftover. Yummy!

This is a fabulous recipe. Absolutely delicious, and makes you look as if you know what you're doing. First time is a teeny bit intimidating....think ServPro: like it never even happened. The next time, after you've repainted and replaced the carpeting, it's cake - or rather, pudding. Who knew you could make caramel in the privacy of your own kitchen? Amazing. For the full batch, I doubled the caramel amount, which keeps you from rationing...and arguing. Also, the full batch of pudding easily feeds a dozen or more...for a family size, just cut the recipie in half and use a 9x9 or 8x8. Works well.

I could not get the sugar to dissolve. Tried it twice. Gave up and deleted the recipe.

Watched this on televison, got the ingredients, and BAM! I parted this out to 2 other homes in the neighborhood so I wouldn't eat it all. It was a hit. It looked great on tv, but it was great here! This is a keeper.

    First made Jan 24 2008.
Taste is okay but not something that would serve to guests.

I made this for a neighbourhood potluck and my foodie friends loved it. Don't skip the ice cream and the caramel sauce as it makes a decadent dessert divine. This will be my go to recipe....No one will call this bread pudding 'poor man's pie'. Fabulous!!
