Thank you Emeril for this DELICIOUS stew. I have recently moved and will be serving this for a Family/Friend gathering. My husband and sister think I am the best cook ever. All I do is watch you and the other chefs on the Food Network and follow your recipes. Thanks for always making me look good. Also, Thank you for your wonderful recipes. And, for the record, BAM!!!! They are awesome!!!!

This was the first time I made this recipe. I took 1 Tbsp of essence and flour, mixed it up and tossed the stew meat in a plastic bag before I sauteed it. I added 1/2 cup of red wine to the broth mixture and 3 heaping Tbsp of flour. I also added 2 stalks of celery, a bay leaf and one clove of garlic. I cooked it for 3 hours on high and 4 1/2 hours on low. I added a couple more Tbsps of flour one hour before it was done. The stew turned out really well and was absolutely delicious. I also tasted it after about 6 hours and added a little more of the Essence and this definitely added some heat to it.

I really liked this recipe. I added one stalk of chopped celery and forgot to add the parsley at the end. It takes some prep time but it is worth it. I served it with brown rice and whole wheat biscuits, great combo!

This recipe was good. I like to taste as I go to make sure the flavours are right and I found it to be pretty bland so I tweaked it a bit and made the flavour pop (without adding spice. I did find it to be a little thinner than I would like. I think that if I make this recipe again it will need a little more tweaking to make sure it is thicker and even a little tastier. So in the end I would say this base is mainly for a base but not one that I would follow perfectly.

This slow cooker beef stew is delish! It's also easy and economical. The spice combos were awesome and the beef stock really helped this along, as I cooked mine on HIGH setting for half the time. Still tender and delicious, even my picky hubby liked this one!

I love this recipe for Beef Stew. I have made it for three generations of my family (my parents, my husband and my brothers and now my babies and all have licked their plates clean. My only change is that I add 1/2 cup of red wine to the crockpot, but that is just because everything tastes better with wine!
