My Dad gobbled it up, my husband said it was the best stew he's ever eaten and I loved the simplicity.

I made this recipe and i added and extra tablespoon of the essence and once the stew was done I added some egg noodles as well. It was outstanding! The seasoning was just right and the noodles gave it a little something extra. This dish is easy to make and completely worth it.

My family and I loved this beef stew. My family and I loved this beef stew. I've been looking for a nice thick and rich beef stew and this one is it. It was so easy. I couldn't find the type of potatoes Emeril used so I used Idaho potatoes and I peeled and medium diced them, and I added 1 more tablespoon of flour to the other two to thicken it up more. It was absolutely perfect. I love to watch your show Emeril. YOU ARE THE ELVIS OF THE FOOD NETWORK!

This is a great family dish. Just start it int he morning and it will be done by dinner time. Next time I am going to try it with a bit of red wine. I think that will give it the flavor I was looking for. I also added some veggies that I wanted in there. Make it how you want it!

This was soooo yummy! Two things I did different ... I used more than a teaspoon of essence; 1.5 tablespoons to be exact for the meat. I also used part of the beef stock to de-glaze the pan after browning the meat and mix it with the rest of the beef stock. This was soooo tasty on a cold winter night .. mmmMMmMMMMmM!! Emeril .. your the best!!

The recipe is good, but the directions should be more clear. After the first hour on high, turn down the cooker to low setting for the remaining 7 hours. Also, I think the mushrooms should be added towards the end, since they appeared over-cooked after 8 hours in the cooker. It also could use a little more flour to help thicken it. Lastly, it needed a little more seasoning.

Fabulous rich taste - be sure to have french bread to dip the gravy.
