Made these for breakfast the night before. Though they tasted best when fresh, if you store them in airtight containers, they are fine the next day.
As I did not have chickory coffee, I used a strong decaf, and it tasted great. If you have a thermos or thermal carafe, use this to store the creme anglaise, which allows it to stay creamy far longer than other containers. This cream is smooth, delicious, and has a mild sweetness that does not overpower. Absolutely addictive.
If you want them fresh, but want to cut breakfast prep time, make the dough the night before, then put in a covered bowl in the refrigerator overnight. Take out of the refrigerator about 30-45 minutes prior to frying and it will turn out quite well.
