Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup white popping corn
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 (1/3 pound) piece assertive blue cheese, frozen
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped lightly toasted walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives

Directions

In a large, partially covered saucepan, heat the oil and 1 kernel of popcorn until hot enough to make the corn pop. Add the remaining popcorn and cook, partially covered, shaking until all the corn is popped. Transfer the popcorn to a large mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper. While popcorn is hot, grate the blue cheese over the popcorn. Add the walnuts and chives and toss until evenly coated. Serve immediately.

I'd like to try this recipe, but it doesn't say what to do with the 4 TBSP of melted butter exactly. Do I just pour it on... when I add the cheese? Please help! Thanks.Read more

I hadn't popped corn in years, we don't eat it often. Well now that is going to change. We saw Emeril making this on Essence... for a tailgating party. It is so good and so easy, everyone loves it.Read more

    HEAVEN...

There are not enough stars to rate this recipe, THAT'S HOW GOOD IT IS!!! I have made this 4 times since I seen this on EL... about a week ago, including for our SUPER BOWL party...everyone LOVED it, even the kids and those who claim to "not like blue cheese"...HA!!! It is soooooo easy and brings your typical popcorn up to the gourmet level...YUMMMMMMMMY!!! The "real" way to make popcorn is the best, but if you are strapped for time, do it with microwave p/c (really, we tried it!!!)...it will still ROCK!!!Read more

    Don't cook, POP-CORN

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Good day, My business was "Cowboy Bill's Kettle Style Popped Corn!" Popping corn shouel be POPPED not cooked. Heat oil... first (don't use olive oil)it has a lower burn factor. When heated then add a corn kennel and keep it in motion. If left stand still it will burn before it pops. Use aprox 2 table spoons of oil for 1/4 cup of corn. Three table spoons for 1/3 cup of corn. If using salt it may be added before the corn starts to pop. (the salt will not burn) Add cheese A.S.A.P. before it cools. Enjoy, Remember never cook pop corn, POP it! Thanks, Cowboy BillRead more
