Delicious and easy to make. Didn't please my non-cabbage eating teenage son but my husband and I loved it!

I've fixed a lot of Emeril's recipes and this one was a dud. The amount of red pepper it called for made it way too hot and the color of the cabbage was a drab brown (probably because of the beer. I pitched the rest of it.

I'm not a huge cabbage fan, but this recipe was delicious. I didn't have bay leaves or bacon, but used a little Italian seasoning and chicken stock. I like the way the beer gave the cabbage more depth. I will definitely make it again using bacon and bay leaves.

I fed this to a group of 12 people along with red cabbage and the old favorite boiled. This was BY FAR the choice of everyone. Simple to make and great tasting, just use Sam Adams Beer. I have made it with a light Lager also but the SA seems to add a bit of flavor.

Emeril has done it again ! This recipe is very easy and everyone loves it. Even the ones who don't care for cabbage LOVED this recipe! I used cubed ham instead of bacon and added 2 TBLS of brown sugar. Theres something about cooking in beer that really brings out the flavor in the food !

I made this for New Year's Day and it was fabulous. I wasn't able to use beer, so I used chicken stock instead...maybe better than the original. This is definitely comfort food at its best!
