On top of the sausage, I added diced tomatoes with green chiles, some fresh chopped cilantro, and a can of green salsa. Then I added the cheese, substituting a Mexican blend for the cheddar. It made a big difference!

Honestly, I like a lot of Emeril's recipes. This one is not for me. It's just soggy nastiness. I made it for family that was visiting and we ended up throwing it away and going out.

I followed this recipe exactly as written, and my husband and I loved it. If you are looking for an egg caserole, then you will need to modify this one - it's mostly bread with a little egg - but we thought it was great as is. I cooked it for 30 minutes and it was perfect.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, this recipe needed some tweaking to come out right. I'm figuring that those of us who knew right from the start that some work was needed knew enough about cooking to just make this up on our own. I'm disappointed in this because while recipes (except for baking! tend to be fluid and adaptable, this one wasn't even good for guidelines on ratios of ingredients or timing. I guess as a list of ingredients, not quantities, it is fine, but frankly I know that I need to add eggs, milk and cheese to a breakfast casserole. I gave 3 stars because my version turned out yummy, but had I followed this recipe, not so much.

I'm surprised that no one has suggested reducing the bread, rather than increasing the eggs and half and half. I made this recipe and instead of increasing the eggs, I used thin bread (and also customized the recipe with chopped onion, green pepper and tomato. I did cook it about an hour, but it came out great and I avoided all the added carbs of the thick bread.

I have made this twice this week ~ Christmas morning it was a perfect hearty quick meal. Several people have commented on the time. I took it out of the fridge, and let it set for about 30 minutes before cooking, so it wasn't so cold. It took about 30 minutes in the oven. I revamped it for a dinner meal with chopped turkey, more eggs, and a little whipping cream as well as half and half. I probably add more cheese as well - my guys are absolute cheese heads - and I don't mean football fans! I love preparing it, putting it away, and BAM - putting it in the oven and I am all done! This is awesome! Reenie

I read the other reviews and used 9 eggs and 1 3/4 cups of half and half, along with turkey sausage. Even after baking 50+ minutes, I thought the eggs were set, but alas, it is virtually impossible to test when you are sticking a cake tester into gushy Texas Toast. Although everyone liked the flavor, the texture was really revolting, just mushy and gushy in the center, while the edges were nice and firm. I don't think I'll be trying this one again; a disapointing Christmas Eve breakfast. Christmas morning breakfast was much better with the Panettone Bread Pudding from epicurious dot com though! Give that one a try and you WON'T be disappointed. (Ina has one here too made with almonds

This was my first attempt at any kind of breakfast casserole. I ALWAYS read the reviews BEFORE I attempt any dish. I'm sure glad I did with this one. I used 12 eggs and 2 cups of half and half. Even before I put it in the fridge overnight I wasn't sure it would come out the way I wanted. The next morning after baking it uncovered (oops didn't read the directions thoroughly for about 50 minutes at 350 degrees it came out great! It does puff up nicely when cooking. I also added diced green peppers, tomatoes, and onions which made it yummy!! I used lots of shredded cheddar. Next time I will use more salt and pepper...when you think you've added way too much, add more!!!! I used the 5 Cheese Texas Toast from Peppridge Farm. Like another reviewer said, it sticks so grease the pan really well. Next time I will also try adding some turkey or veggie sausage crumbles. Will definately make this one again. Easy to prepare. Everyone loved it Christmas morning!!

Made this for breakfast this morning. I had a group of people over and with some modification like everyone said it was super yummy. Leftovers were just eaten so it is now all gone.

I used a total of 12 eggs and 2 cups 1/2 and 1/2 because when I added the egg it didn't cover much (keep in mind this will puff up. I also added veggies and 1 lb of bacon with the sausage.

Cooking I did it at 350 for 1 hour covered and then 10 minute uncovered. How only 20-30 minutes would cook this is beyond me...it need about an hour for sure. Only few things I would say would be make sure you really do use lots of salt and pepper it made a difference and add extra butter to the bottom as mine did stick quite a bit.

All and all my boyfriend and I decided we would make this again for sure. We had lox and bagels, fruit, and beans with this.
