Friends look forward to my desserts at gatherings. Recently I was in charge of providing desserts for my best friend's 50 th Surprise party attended by 40 people. Made 3 cakes this being one of them. There was not a crumb left!!!!! The vote was in !!!!!!!!! The next day I baked another one for my partner at work for her 40 th Birthday again she and her associate who doesn't even like cake said the best cake hands down they had ever had. My partner then went to pick up her child at sitters and shared the cake with her friend. The friend called next day to say best cake ever!!!!!!!!!!! The votes are in... This IS A WINNER!!!!

This was delicious, though I made some changes throughout the baking. I halved the recipe and made only 1 layer on an 8 inch round cake pan. Since the cake seemed too thin to cut in half for two layers, I just did one. I frosted only the sides with the cream cheese frosting omitting the walnuts. I also didn't put the apple mixture through the food processor but simply layered it on top of the cake. My in-laws and husband loved it.
