I have made this recipe using a few other ingredients but it is TO DIE FOR!!!!! Mascarpone cheese is not available where I live so I substitute 8 oz cream cheese, 3 Tbsp sour cream and 2 Tbsp heavy whipping cream for it. Also, to make things much easier I use a caned rolled pizza dough. I have also used packaged pizza crust that you just mix with water. SO much easier than making the pizza crust from scratch. Literally takes 15 minutes to make from start to finish if you bake it. This is one of the main recipes in my homemade recipe book.

I was having a dinner of the old standard - meat balls and fresh pasta - I needed a dessert.
This recipe caught my eye. I followed the recipe to the letter - just as supper was ending the buzzer rang - dessert was ready. I poped it out of the oven and let it rest on the sideboard for ten minutes. Coffee was served then the Cannoli Dessert Calzone was cut. The recipe claims this is a dessert for 2 or 3 people - my experience was that this is a killer dessert that will serve 5 easily. Everyone was in a chocolate/cheese stupor by the end of coffee.
Well done
