fine recipe, but I don't understand how this is rated "easy" when you have to build your own smoker. Good idea, but rate it medium or hard, that's all.
Sauce is North Carolina style. Carolina sauce is not tomato based. it is vinegar and mustard. Very good.

These I made for Father's Day. I never made pulled pork before. I did not use the smoker as suggested in the recipe but other reviewers said they had good results without. The pork was very good. The barbecue sauce however is not a tomatoe bbq sauce I am used to. It was more of a vinegar sauce which is a little sweet and a bit on the spicy side. My daughter who is five and grandmother of 87 were not able to eat it. My husband and I really liked it though so if you like vinegary spicy pulled pork go with it!!! Next time I'm going to use a traditional bbq sauce though.

I have made a handfull of times but have used a real smoker and it has turned out great every time. Passed the recipe to mother in law and now she makes for every family gathering. She skips the smoker part all together and it turns out great every time!

Did without the smoker all in the oven as on the show. Great with Delta Slaw. A hit with family and friends. Will definitely use again. Just like we had in NC.

Years ago, I used to get Pulled-Pork Barbeque at a place called "OT's Barbeque on Hwy 55, just North of Apex, N.C. Best Barbeque ever! Even served some up to Ted Koppel and crew when did some tech work for the Nightline show. Then they closed, and eventually sold the business....it's never been the same. So, years later...I try Emeril's recipe. Pretty darn good! But it still didn't get to the level of OT's. So I tried several other recipes, most of them using all Apple Cider Vinegar in the sauce (that just doesn't work well.

So....I'm back to this recipe, as it is the best out of the lot, and I'll just work on refining it, and maybe someday...I'll get that OT magic in it!

These are by far the best pulled pork sandwiches I have ever had. They were really easy to make too.

My only complaint is they are made totally different from the show.
