My family really enjoyed these scalloped potatoes but... we had to make so many adjustments in the cooking instructions that it has almost become our recipe. The recipe did not state what temperature to cook the onions on the stovetop- we chose medium and then stopped cooking after four minutes instead of eight to avoid burning. As the other reviews stated 30 minutes in the oven is not any where near long enough. We ended up cooking it longer than an hour. Not a lot of fun when you have a one year old that gets grumpy when dinner's later than 530.

Made this dish as a primary side for a Prime Rib. Solid Recipe - I used two types of cheese for a more robust flavor.

This is a great recipe. I did 1.5 times the amount of ingredients and even extra cheese. We like sharp cheese so I used 1/2 white and 1/2 orange for color. Cooked 60 minutes at 375 which gave a very nice, browned and kind of chewy cheesy crust. The inside was nice and soft.

Sorry, Emeril, this recipe was "just okay". I always add cheese and onions to my scalloped potatoes. Please don't let my review disuade you from making this, it was fine, just nothing new.

Stick with the basics and don't try to "improve" your grandma's recipe!

They tasted great and were very easy to make... I am definetly glad I read the reviews first though as I ended up cooking for 1 hour and they were cooked perfectly.

the cooking time was way off. Try this: double the sauce and add some fresh thyme right before the cheese (I used 2 cups of sharp white cheddar. Use very thin layers of potato then some sauce (in 3 layers, not 2. Bake at 350 covered for 40 min., then uncovered 20 min. A nice golden top will form...yum. The flavor was great!
