Oh my! This was the best chicken and dumplings I have ever had (sorry Mom. I did everything by the recipe and was totally pumped when it came out perfectly!! My husband and I have 7 children and it's hard to please them all at once, but this did the trick! This may become a Sunday supper tradition at my house. Thanks again Emeril!!!

This takes awhile to make, but it is really simple and the ingredients are things that I had on hand. (I used chicken breasts instead of a whole chicken.
Make sure to cook the dumplings all the way through, and go easy on the pepper if you're not the biggest fan of it. Other than that, it is delicious and warming on a cold day!

This was sinfully good!!!! I used regular chicken stock and bought a rotisserie chicken from the market to save a few steps but I cant see the recipe being any less scrumptous using my shortcut method.... This recipe tastes just like my grandma used to make me as a child. I am NOT a fan of the biscuit dumplings so this recipe won me over for the REAL DEAL dumplings. If you are trying this recipe, you wont be disappointed!!!!!!!! Very Rich flavor!!!!!!

After 20 years of trying numerous recipes, this one is it. Absolutely fabulous. BAM Emeril! You hit this one out of the park. Only minor changes I made--didn't have peas, used 1 chicken (all I had on hand, added 2 cups extra water (didn't seem like there was enough liquid forn the dumplings and 1 Knorr Chicken bouillon cube. Finally a perfect dumpling: easy to make, perfect texture and didn't gum up or distort the flavor of the broth. Emeril's creole seasoning gave it just a little kick and I can't wait to use it in other things. My husband, who normally doesn't like chicken and dumplings, ate 2 bowls! We just loved it. Thanks for including this on your website.

My first time making chicken and dumplings and it was a big hit with my family. I didn't use the essence seasoning I was a bit too liberal in the beginning. But it turned out sooo good.

This review is for the dumplings... My finacee is the pickiest eater. He wont eat veggies of anykind and he hates soups. I made a homemade soup by boiling one small onion, cut in very large chunks, 2 carrots and 3 ribbs of celery both cut in very large chunks, and throwing it all in a big pot of water along with 6 frozen chicken legs and what ever seasoning i had in the cuboard such as 1 TB of each, basil, poltry seasoning, rosemary, salt, pepper and nutmeg. When the chx is falling off the bone, about 90 min, i strained it all and put the liquid back in the pot and put in emeril's dumplings.... make sure you salt them or use chx boulon and you can put anything you want in them such as fresh or dried herbs or i used 1/2 pack of chx gravy to season them. As the dumplings cooked, i deboned the chx and put it back. My finacee loved it!. No veggies and lots of flavor. It was a crazy easy and simple homemade dinner which cost almost nothing.

I made double the recipe for this over the weekend and gave one to my daughter's family and kept the other. I did add diced up fingerling potatoes to each pot (about 2 cups worth - which the men really seemed to enjoy! Being under time constraints I opted out of my own dumplings and put jumbo buttermilk biscuits (1 can for each pot on top after the chicken was done and stuffed it in the oven for about 25 minutes and it turned out perfect! I brought the remainder to our business and several customers went away with samples (one is going to go buy me all the ingredients to make him his own personal potfull right now! and gave me their numbers so I can call all of them back when I make this again! Maybe the start of a new career for me??? THANKS EMERIL!! You're the best!

I made this dish about a week ago and fell in love with it. It's definitely a keeper! I wouldn't change anything about the recipe. The dumplings were simple to prepare and absolutely delicious!! Thanx Emeril!

Okay first off I have to say that this review is for the soup only as I used a biscuit mix for the dumplings. That being said this was the most flavorful, creamy, delicious chicken & dumplings I have ever had. I usually make it with cream of chicken soup. It's so nice to have a from scratch recipe, and this is by far better than my standard! I did used canned chicken broth and also added a little extra half & half, but it still was amazing. Thanks!
