Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon plus 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground chipotle chile pepper
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup chopped Mexican chocolate or semisweet chocolate morsels

Directions

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Grease and flour an 11 by 7-inch baking pan or dish with 1 teaspoon of the butter and 1 tablespoon of the flour. Heat the remaining butter and the unsweetened chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted. In a medium bowl, stir together remaining flour, sugar, cinnamon, and ground chipotle. Add sugar mixture to melted chocolate mixture, stirring to combine. Add eggs, mixing until smooth. Stir in chopped chocolate or chocolate morsels.

Pour mixture into the prepared baking pan or dish. Bake until the center is set, 35 to 40 minutes. Cool completely and then cut into small squares.

    Yummy Yummy Yummy

I don't like chocolate but this recipe sparked an interest in me. I have never eaten so many brownies in one sitting. I... couldn't get bittersweet chocolate near my house so I used Abuelita for the whole thing. And they are chocolate CHIPOTLE brownies people(you know who you are below). Chipotles are hot chili peppers. Don't drive down the rating because you don't understand that chili powder doesn't turn into sugar when added to a dessert recipe. Read more

    LOVE These Brownies

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
These brownies are beyond good, and exceptionally easy to make. I've made them multiple times, each time sharing them with... family & friends - and always receiving rave reviews. I don't alter the recipe at all (I see no need to). The mild tingle that the chipotle leaves at the back of the throat is a plus. This is definitely a keeper.Read more

    Absolutely AMAZING!!!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
These are the greatest brownies! I made them for a party & they went over perfectly. I actually doubled the recipe to fit... into a 13x9 inch pan, as well as added more chipotle & added about 2 tsp of cayenne. They were awesome! Everyone raved over them & they are from now on, the only brownies I will ever make. The consistency is great- thick (mind you I doubled the recipe), not too dry or too gooey. PERFECT!Read more

    Delicious!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I made these brownies for a Cinco de Mayo dinner, and they were fantastic! They were SO simple, and they came out gooey and... fabulous :) The chipotle isn't overwhelming - it's a very mild little kick in the back of your throat after you swallow which was just perfect! Read more

    LOVE these brownies!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Brownies are my favorite dessert and these are fabulous! I made several brownie recipes at once to share with co-workers,... which caused me to make a slight alteration without realizing it. I ended up melting the chopped cholocate along with the unsweetned bakers chocolate. I simply added a little bit of flour and everything came out perfect. I went ahead and threw in a full teaspoon of the chipotle spice and some cayenne pepper (I LOVE spicy chocolate) and the spice still isn't overwhleming....rather it builds on you in a warm fashion after you finish the brownie. The texture is spot on and the taste is heaven.Read more
