Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked pie shell
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Steen's 100 percent Pure Cane Syrup
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 ounces melted semi-sweet chocolate
  • 2 scoops vanilla bean ice cream
  • 1 cup chocolate sauce, in squeeze bottle
  • Fresh mint sprigs
  • Shaker of powdered sugar

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Spread the pecan pieces and the chocolate chips evenly on the bottom of the pie shell. In a mixing bowl, whisk the remaining ingredients together. Pour the filling over the pecans. Bake for about 1 hour or until the filling sets. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Lay one piece of the pie in the center of the plate. Garnish the pie with ice cream, chocolate sauce, mint and powdered sugar.

Comparatively to other Emeril's recipes, this pie was very easy to concoct. And of course, extremely delicious. I would definitely recommend this pie to anyone looking to make an old tradition favorite with a little bit of a chocolate zing. Emeril's Chocolate Pecan Pie does not take very long to bake - just throw everything into the pie shell! One comment I found to be helpful would be to add a little less syrup; it will cut back on that stickiness.
