OMG! This chicken came out so deliciously tender! What a grand presentation taking it out of the oven next time....and there will be a next time.... I will try taking off the lid for the last 15 minutes or so to brown up that luscious skin coated in honey and soy sauce.

This is the first time I cooked using a clay pot. The chicken turned out delicious and my husband says it's one of the best things I've ever made. I used a very cheap chicken from Kroger (under 4 dollars and it had no effect on the flavor or tenderness. It's not the easiest recipe to make after work given the time that it takes, but it's worth it!

Wow! The whole family CHOWED on this one! I added some onion into the chicken cavity and fresh minced garlic to both the chicken and the honey sauce. I used half orange blossom honey and half buckwheat honey since that's all I had, and I think the buckwheat honey really added some depth to the flavors. We had a smaller chicken, just under 2lbs and I tihnk that may have helped with the great flavor. We've added this to our permanent rotation!

Absolutely melt in your mouth chicken. I was worried the honey might make it too sweet; it did not. Never tasted anything so good. Thanks Emeril!

No deviation AT ALL from recipe instructions (clay pot & all results: chicken not brown; chicken undercooked (cooked add'l 30 mins at higher temp, turned out overcooked/dry/inedible lemon/honey glaze sounded dellicious & just right for a lighter entree - turned out FAT (yuk fr chicken drippings and impossible to remove from clay baker w/out tearing up the chicken (once it was 'done'. I would never waste an $8 chicken on this recipe again.

We just bought a Romertopf clay baker to use for the recipes in a new bread cookbook "My Bread." I was looking for a recipe to get a few more miles of usage out of this new tool. This chicken tasted AMAZING - comnination of recipe and baker. Can't believe it's taken us this long to buy one of these bakers.

Served with garlic mashers (no butter due to the butter in the chicken gravy and roasted veggies. With other reviews saying the sauce needed a bit of something, I also added thyme from out herb garden. This recipe will be my baseline for exploring other ways to use my baker. Cheers, Emeril!

I'm going to put this one down as a "meh." The chicken was succulent beyond your dreams. Truly. I have a small romertopf so I used 2 chicken (bone in breasts. I know, I know, the recipe calls for a whole chicken but this worked. This isn't a case of using maple syrup instead of honey and a pork loin instead of chicken and then not liking the recipe.

I cooked it for the alloted time and it was perfect for the chicken breasts. My lower rating is based on the sauce. It's just butter, flour, honey, soy and lemon. I felt it could use some seasoning of some sort. Some herbs? Some garlic? I know know, maybe a "bam" or two. It was sweet, not very lemony and kind of one dimensional. My husband and son really liked it though. The chicken cooked in the clay pot was perfect, I just thought the sauce was blah.

By far this is my favorite way now to make chicken in a clay pot! It is so juicy with a sweet lemon flavor. My boyfriend actually doesn't mind cleaning the clay pot afterwards for this one!

My family loved this chicken! My grandson (18, who doesn't like lemon chicken, loved it. My 14 year-old grand daughter who is a very picky eater, had seconds! She especially loved the sauce and drizzled extra over each serving of chicken. Takes a long time to cook, but is very easy to prepare. You won't be disappointed!

WOW - I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW WONDERFUL THIS DISH TURNED OUT. I KNOW THAT THE CLAY POT MAKES REALLY JUICY, TENDER CHICKEN - BUT THE INGREDIENTS MADE IT OUT OF THIS WORLD. I MADE MASHED POTATOES AND JUST SPOONED THE JUICE OVER THEM AND THE CHICKEN. IT WAS BETTER THAN ANY GRAVY I HAVE EVER MADE. I HAD A DOUBT ABOUT THE HONEY, ESPECIALLY 2/3 CUP - BUT IT MADE THE DISH WHAT IT WAS. AFTER IT HAD COOKED DOWN I FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT TOO SWEET - I THOUGHT IT SOUNDED LIKE A LOT BEFORE I MADE IT. THE NEXT TIME I HAVE COMPANY THIS WILL BE WHAT I WILL SERVE THEM!!
