pretty darn good but even for me1/2 tsp cayenne was to much id only use 1/4 next time. for the fish stock i just used 1 cup of the water i boiled the lobster in, and instead of of cream i used 1 cup low salt chicken stock and milk tasted great why have the fat of cream if you dont need it!

This was not thick enough. I followed the recipe to the letter and wonder what could be wrong.

I made this last night and this recipe is awesome. I was actually out of quite a bit of stuff, but made it work. I didn't have yellow onions or celery. I substituted cut up fresh asparagus for the crunchiness and added rosemary, marjoram, and dried parsley for the onion taste. I also added celery hearts for the celery taste. I cut the cayenne in half and added some red ground pepper and black pepper. I was also a 1/4 of a cup shy of the full amount of cream so I added an additional 1/4 of milk and a tbs of butter to make up for that. We used real lobster as we had gotten small lobster tails on sale previously. I used water instead of the crab boil. It was so good that my husband took a picture of it and kept talking about it all night. His exact words: "You really hit it out of the ballpark on this one, especially considering we were out of half of the ingredients called for." It's something we will absolutely make again.

I made the recipe for the first time in 2007 for my family and friends now everytime we get together for the holidays or party's thats the dish I have to bring. The only thing I do different for the recipe is use lump crab meat and shrimp, in place of the lobster. If you try this recipe just once you will be hooked !!!!

This was a fantastic recipe. I substituted lobster base for the stock/water. It gave it a wonderful lobster taste. I also used imitation lobster. The crab boil and cayenne were perfect for me but will leave it out for those that can't handle the heat. Best bisque I've had.

You can't go wrong here... A real crowd pleaser every time. I've never added the crab boil... doesn't need it. A little kick with the cayenne... just the right amount of bite to it. Delicious.

This is a great and easy way to make tasty soup. However, I would avoid the "Zatarian's Crab Boil" recommended addition to the recipe-- I found it repulsive and excessively hot (without alot of flavor. At minimum, be sure to taste before adding!

I made this for my parents and grandparents for the first time it turned out amazing. They all loved it. It was exactly the right constancy and I didn't have any Cayenne pepper so I left it out and used a little white pepper and let people add black pepper to taste. I also used imitation lobster so much cheaper and healthier:
