We tried this when we first saw it being made and it has now become a staple for our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

I made this recipe for Thankgiving and it was awsome! Full of flavor and yummy! The prep of the onions is labor intensive and took longer than anticipated, but worth it. I cooked the onions longer than required because my turkey wasnt ready yet and the liquid got a little gluey, so stick to the recipe and it should turn out perfect.

Excellent recipe. I added extra bacon which overwhelmed the flavors a bit(who would have guessed too much pig could negatively impact?but still very good. For ease, I would also suggest using jars of pearl onions and stir into the decadent sauce. Cheers!

These were amazing. I had cippoleli onions which I substituted for pearl. Only had 8 ounces of onions so I cut the sauce recipe in half. Didn't have fresh thyme so I used a sprinlke of dried thyme leaves. Next time I'll have plenty of onions - the dish was AMAZING!

I love Emeril's decadence--normally... This time, I found the recipe too rich. Too much cream, plus bacon put it over the top and not in the normally perfectly Emeril way.

One caveat--I seriously cut this recipe down, because I was only having 3 for dinner, and I only had about 8 oz of onions. Maybe I screwed up the proportions, but I don't think so.

I was a little leery about adding any bacon flavor to this dish, but it turned out to be simply delicious. My husband prefers yellow onions so I simply boiled them twenty-five minutes longer than the recipe called for and then followed Emeril's directions. The dish was perfect in texture and flavor.

The recipe was easy and very tasty. I kept the cayenne pepper out of the essence and it turned out very flavorful and delicious. The onions weren't mushy (like my mom's with the frozen pearl onions and the fresh onions tasted so much better.

This was the first time I made an Emerill recipe andI dared to make it for friends at Christmas! It was the hit of the dinner! I think the bacon adds the perfect flavor to the onions, and of course the Essence of Emerill!

The Essence seasoning makes this recipe amazing! We served this with the Cajun injected turkey - - all a huge hit.

Add a splash of sherry before serving this dish to kick it up a notch.
