This is the first beef stew I have made - it was wonderful. I was interested in trying a couple different receipe's from TFN but chose this one first. However, I added 1/2 jar drained sundried tomatoes and before adding the beef broth I added about 1/4-1/2 cup red wine. In addition, I used 4 garlic cloves because we usually up the garlic on every recipe - we love the garlic!

I cut this recipe in half because it was only for 2 of us, but i wish i would have made more because it was soooo yummy! I used baby portabello mushrooms, but they were just as good and i simmered the stew a little longer. The key ingredient i thought was the parsley at the end, really finished it off perfectly. Also made eggs noodles instead of rice- so much better. I will be making this again very soon!

I have made a ton of beef stew recipes, followed to a T that just fell flat. This was so flavorful and delish that my boys had seconds. Thank you so much for sharing and BAM! we love watching you!

I made this stew for guests one evening, not quite sure how it would taste since I had never made it before. My 82-year-old mother absolutely loved it. She asked me over and over to make the stew again, so I finally did. She savored every mouthful and declared it "the best in all the land!" Thank you, Emeril.

I made this for my boyfriend whos mom is from the midwest and used to good home cooking. It was my first time making stew ever and it was incredible! I followed the recipe exactly as is. The only thing that changed it was I forgot to add the essence to the meat and had to put it in later with the broth. Next time I wont forget and it will take it down a few notches. We ate this for a week straight!

Having made a few bland beef stews, I had my doubts about this recipe. I followed the recipe exactly as written (minus the peas and it was fabulous! Great flavor.

I would like the "cook time" to reflect the real time it takes to cook. Unfortunately, being a busy mom, I didn't read through the entire recipe first, as usual, and since it said 40min. cook time, I assumed I could whip it up an hour before I had to pick my kids up from their swim practice. But, once I got to the simmering part, after 30 min. prep time, I realized that I had to cook the stew for 1 hour, and then another 30 minutes. So, I'd really estimate the cook time to be 2 hours, not 40 minutes.
The broth is rich and delicious, and if we'd had enough time, the meat would have been more tender. I just had to get food on the table for my hungry swimmers.

I will definitely be adding this to my standard rotation of fall recipes. It was easy to make and tasted even better the second day. I left out the peas and parsley because I didn't have them on hand and I still loved every bite.

This was a very delicious filling stew. I used Beef Country Ribs instead of stew meat and it was fabulous. I strongly recommend this recipe.
