I have been searching and searching for the original pastrami sandwich the pioneers made years ago . The pioneers did not have a lot of ingredients to cook with. But thats what made their food good, simple and sastifying. Thank you Emril for the original pastrmi sandwich. It taste great. And now my search is over..

I hestitated to review this recipe because it is basic. Sometimes simple foods are the best. This sandwich is one of them. Match the mustard, rye bread, and onion to your taste, use quality pastrami and rye bread (light or dark. Absolutely delicious. It's like grilled fresh oysters in the half shell with nothing but butter and their own juices. Wow! There are many delicious complex recipes; but, like this sandwich, often nothing is better than simple. Thank you Emeril.

I would have rated this recipe higher for ease, but the taste was a bit strong. I would make it again.
