Way too much seasonings!! It's impossible to taste the potential goodness because it makes your face numb and your insides burn. Makes you sweat! Sausage or shrimp might help but still rough, good luck if you choose to make it

Made this three weeks ago, and will again today. As then, I'll use Silva brand (my favorite for over fifty years hot Linguica and baby kale. Also, as I have Greek oregano plants growing all the time, I used it fresh, along with diced onions & garlic, rather than the Essence. A great soup.

It was absolutely wonderful!!! I had to do a substitution on the sausage because they didn't have chirizo (had never heard of it but was very happy with it. Friends have said it was delisious also!!!

Great soup - watch spice level for kids from hot pepper flakes & essence. You can substitute chicken andouille sausage for the chorizo. May add a few chick peas next time. Very good and reheats well.

This was outstanding! Spicy, but not overwhelming. I cooked and crumbled the chorizo prior to adding it to the soup, and let the whole thing simmer in a crockpot for several hours.

Soup was good but I used red kale which had a different texture and taste. Much better with green kale.
I made as is except ham substituted for sausage. It needed an acid so I used 2 tbsp of red wine vinegar which balanced the flavor.

I made this yesterday and really enjoyed it. I make a lot of soups on the weekend. It was really good to make something a little different from my normal choices. I highly recommend giving this one a try. DId the same thing as another reviewer, cooked the sausage separately, just like the idea of browining it before adding to the broth. I will make this one again.

I have only seen Mexican chorizo sausage where I live. I knew that was not what was asked for here. I found Hot Linguica, a hickory smoked Poutuguese style sausage that truned out perfect for this recipe. I got a little carried away with chopping garlic so I think I used more than the 2 Tablespoons asked for. Other than that I followed the recipe exact using chicken broth. I made a second pot for my daughter picky eater boyfriend that does not eat anything green (so no kale. He loved the soup so much the next day he was eating our soup. He now says kale not bad. This was a shock since he hardly eats any veggies ever. The soup makes the whole house smell good. The added mint on top reminds me of my favorite Albondigas Soup recipe. Don't skip the mint. You have to try this recipe. Its easy and so good.

Soup is great as is. Only change I made is to cook chorizo separately to make sure fat is lessened.

I made this soup exactly how the recipe calls and it was perfect. If you're not into spicy, then just a regular smoked sausage sliced into peices would work also.
