Sooooo delicious! Sooooooo easy! Easy to prepare and just let it do it's thing! Add the pasta at the end! The meat is moist and delicious and the pasta absorbs the sauce which makes it a great dish to go with it! All you need is a salad (I made a spinach salad. A great family meal, or one that would impress dinner guests!

This type of recipie was a first for me. It won't be the last. It does need a little adjustment Veal shanks are very expensive, so I bought veal blade I think it was. 3.59 a lb instead of 12.00 a lb. The cooking instructions go from a dutch oven to a pan and then it says remove the pot, whch is it. I kind of winged it and used the dutch oven all the way through the recipie and it was excelent. Now its a one pot dinner too.
I also cut the orzo down to 1 lb. After reading the other comments and they said it was a little dry. Even with only 1 lb I did have a lot of orzo left over. The next night I added a can of beef broth to some of the orzo and made a soup out of it. I got to tell you it was worth every minute it took to make the orginal dinner. Next time I will try it with the beef. Thanks, Terry Long Island NY

This turned out perfect. The veal was so moist, it just fell off the bone. I am not a big fan of risotto but it was very good. I would make this again. It was also very easy to make.

It was a litte dry when finished, next time I will add a little more liquid. Didn't look anything like the picture, the finished product was much darker for some reason. It was delicious tho and I will make this again. I found that veal shanks are very hard to come by in Alaska, so I used veal chops instead and reduced cooking time.

We the following changes this has become my standard Osso Buco. Before adding the wine and stock I add about a Tbs of tomato paste and saute together with the veggies for about minute. I also add 3 chopped ripe tomatoes at the same time I add the wine and stock. A good alternative to orzo is to serve creamy polenta.
