Delicious! I have made these several times, and they are so tasty. I am making some right now to go along with a smoked brisket, collards, mac n cheese, and corn bread. I love the left overs in the morning alongside eggs! Emeril never disappoints!

I have made these several times now and served them to huge complimente. The only changes I made was to add some maple syrup to the beans about half way through... Thanks E!!!

Excellent, with a twist. Coffee was a good addition which gave it complexity. Not for the clueless canned bean connoisseur. Big boys step up to the plate and eat the real deal..

It probably does not matter to some of the bloggers as much as it does to me, but if you are going to use canned beans and say they are much better, then you are missing out on some
    creativity.
I have been making baked beans exactly like E's recipe for over forty some years. On some occasions I use the canned baked beans depending on the crowd of people that I serve. Mainly because people who are used to eating from cans really never appreciate the real deal.
Going the extra mile while cooking is a "fruit of love" attitude.
To rate a recipe with one star is as useful to viewers as a recipe using canned beans.

Made these beans a number of times and they are always a hit. Used a Maple flavored bacon that added one more layer of flavor. Try 'em they won't disappoint!! Coffee was an unusual ingredient and contrary to other reviews did not have a burnt or biitter taste..... This arrow is staying in my quiver.

This was fantastic. I substituted the bacon for a pound of ham, but for the most part followed the recipe.

On a side note the the hot sauce I used was a little too strong so I ended up neutralizing it with a potato.

    Great dish

I've never made baked beans before and these were a hit along with Emeril's Carolina style pulled pork sandwiches. I left the coffee out - I was afraid that it would taste like burnt coffee having to be cooked for such a long time, anyways my Husband said that they were delicious! So I was happy to hear that on Fathers day!

I loved these baked beans, but made just a couple changes. I used vegetable and chicken broth instead of water for more flavor and then did not add salt until the end. I also used a ham bone and skipped the bacon. The bits of ham came off the bone and the broth was so thick. And I put all of it in the crock pot from early morning on high and let it go all day (better to soak beans overnight and cook on low. Great flavor, and now we refuse to eat canned beans.

First let me say my husband enjoyed these beans as did two out of three children. I had to use great northern beans rather than navy beans because that is what I had maybe this is why the cooking time for me was a total of 5 hours in the oven in order to get my beans tender. I'm not a coffee drinker so with that length of time cooking, I got a hint of burnt coffee flavor. I wouldn't use this recipe again, but I appreciate finding a recipe where I didn't have to soak the beans as this was a menu I decided first thing in the morning.
