I just finished making this and eating it with my husband. It was a delicious dinner! We had always wanted to try chicken and waffles and this was a hit. I did make some variations, I washed my chicken with lemon juice and seasoned it with a little ketchup and soy sauce before I put it in the flour mix ( I added breadcrumbs to that also. The waffle mixture was a but thick so I added more buttermilk till it was just right. Delicious! Will definitely make again. :

Chicken was much easier to do than I had expected! Waffles were great, too! Can't imagine someone saying that the batter was too thick -- unless they had problems with measurements. But, of course that would be a personal problem rather than a recipe issue.

Great recipe, especially for the waffles! I substitute 1/2 of the flour with whole wheat flour and it still turns out great.

This recipe was as thick as paste. I had to add an additional 1/2 cup of milk to thin it out. Even then the waffles were so thick they didn't cook well. I was surprised that Emerril put his name on this recipe. Very disappointing.

I followed this recipe to the "T". This was absolutely the best chicken and waffles, either made together or separately, that I have ever come across. I am an intermediate cook with my own catering and decorating business. These waffles were absolutely awesome. I was going to add some vanilla and nutmeg, as I do when I make my own recipe of waffles, but decided to leave well enough alone. I was right. The waffles do have a little different texture and taste, but when you add the butter and maple syrup (I only use real maple syrup, this is wonderful. We also used some light molasses for the syrup as well and this paired well with the spicy fried chicken. Sugar and spice is everything nice!!!
