This is the best fried okra I've ever had. I made the Essence seasoning, keep it in the fridge and use it all the time. These are perfect right out of the pan!

Loved this, although I couldn't afford buttermilk, I used an egg and some milk came out just as good, fried some for a snack on a lazy saturday, me and my 2yr old looved it.

Don't let the "slimy" texture be a turn off. It makes a nice contrast to the fried coating, much in the same way calamari is complimented by batter frying. The Essence seasoning gives this dish a great flavor.

Never attempted fried okra before, my husband is from the south and really likes it. This was easy, had a little spice, made me like okra. Make sure you have the oil hot enough.

I thought somehow the frying process would make the slime disappear...NOT. I have tried so hard to develop a taste for Okra to the point that I grew it in my garden this year and it is the most abundant plants there! But, alas. I will not try again. I gave it to my neighbor and he loved it! I did, however, love the Bayou Blast and the corn meal/flour coating.

This fried okra is crisp on the outside and the okra is not soggy on the inside it still has substanance. The buttermilk and essense adds a great flavor it almost melts in your mouth.
