Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 (13-ounce) jar chocolate-hazelnut spread
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (12-ounce) box corn and rice cereal
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa

Directions

In a saucepan, melt the butter, chocolate-hazelnut spread, and chocolate chips over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat.

In a large bowl place the cereal and pour the melted chocolate mixture over the top. Gently stir well to coat evenly. Sprinkle with the powdered sugar and cocoa, and toss to coat. Store in an airtight container.

    Nutty

We liked the taste of this, but the appearance and crumbliness left a little to be desired. The flavors are great, but I... can't rate it a five due to the difficulty in eating it and the fact that my granddaughter wouldn't even try it since she thought it looked "yucky." I did end up adding a little cream per another reviewer's suggestion and that helped the consistency of the chocolate mixture. Even with that, it was still difficult to mix in with the cereal. I too had a lot of little pieces which I will use to sprinkle on future desserts.Read more

    Outstanding, but!

Based on previous reviews, I decided to wait and see what specific techniques were used for this. Fully equipped with the... proper techniques, I ventured forward. The main problem that I encountered was that the "cereal" lost a lot of its crispiness im the process. A side problem was that there were quite a lot of small bits produced. The solutions: (1) I took the large bits and baked them in a 300 degree oven for about 20 minutes to crisp them up; and (2) I used the small bits for a cheese cake crust. All and all, a very positive and delicious experience!Read more

    Deeeelicious and addicting :-)

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This is a great snack, very easy AND, I had never tasted chocolate-hazelnut spread, now I'm hooked :-)...in fact, the jar was... empty before I made the snack and had to purchase another :-). I found it a little hard to mix the chocolate without breaking the cereal so next time I am going to try just 1/2 of everything. Thanks for the great recipe.Read more

    Wow!

What a delicious flavor! However, when I mixed mine together, the cereal got all smashed, so I pressed it into a greased 9x9... pan, froze it, then cut it up kinda like Rice Krispie treats.Read more
