Blah Blah Blah BLAND!! More like a tasteless cornmeal quiche. Lacks flavor. I would suggest more cheese, salt and some pan fried smoked joul or prosciutto.

Good side dish. I added a cup of corn kernels which I loved. I would suggest more hot sauce (I like spice and maybe some diced hot peppers. I will try it again with those additions. I think everyone could add their own twist to this to make it fit your tastes. Overall, very good.

I saw this on TV today and knew my hubby would like it...but I didn't know he would fall in love. He said this was the best dish I have ever made. It reminded him of a quiche he said, and I agreed. We also talked about what a great cold-weather comfort food it was. I think next time, I will add some cubed ham to make this our whole meal!
Oh, and to answer the other question, I cooked this at 400deg for 37 minutes and it was perfect!

The recipe worked well for me, looked great on the table, and was nice for a change, but my husband's comment was that it tasted like an omlette. He didn't mean it in a bad way, but the point was still taken: the dish did have a predominant egg flavor. I think adding whole kernel corn next time - maybe a cup - would suit my family's tastes. By the way, in response to another reviewer's question, I used a 400 degree oven and it was fine.

I've never had spoonbread, so I wasn't sure what to expect with this dish. Great flavor combination with the corneal, onions, cheese and pepper sauce. The taste reminds me of a combination of cornbread and grits. I baked mine at 400 and it came out fine, but I might try the lower temp next time since all other recipes say 350.

I love your recipes Emeril, but I have a question. The written recipe calls for a 400 degree oven. On the show, you said 350 degrees. Which is it?
